General Discussion / 1967 L78 repro Alternator Belt 3849739 fitment problems
« on: September 12, 2023, 02:56:22 PM »
I purchased a repro 3849739 alternator belt alternator belt made by Quanta advertised as 55 1/2" in length. When measuring the outside length of the belt it was actually 55". Does this 1/2" really make that much of a difference? I feel like there is no way this belt will fit. I removed the valve cover and pushed the alternator as far as it could go and it's still not close. Am I missing something?

Note: NOM but I'm using correct original GM pulleys

Originality / 1967 2 Piece Clutch Rod Boot assembly
« on: August 14, 2023, 03:01:13 AM »
When unscrewing the 2 screws holding what was left of the clutch rod boot into place on my 1967 04D NOR Camaro, I noticed it had a steel retainer and a boot underneath. I didn't think anything of it until I realized the NOS gm boot simply wouldn't screw into place using the retainer.
After some digging, on UPC 7 C2 of the aim, there is a design change.
1st design being 2 pieces with retainer part #3886688 and seal part # 3886686.
This design is replaced with part 3909071 that is the one piece.
Interestingly, although my car is 04D the change is dated 10/26/66.

For those with 67's and console gauges I need a little help.

Where does this console harness clip to the body? (see photo)

What is the general routing of the console harness?

And where is your harness grounded?

My harness was grounded to the dash reinforcement, not to the transmission tunnel illustrated in the AIM. When looking at the transmission tunnel, I don't see any evidence of a ground location that matches the aim.

Photos would be appreciated if possible.

Thank you!

Jose

Restoration / Needed: Photos of GM 3913415 Throttle return spring 1967 L78
« on: December 22, 2022, 05:38:25 PM »
I'm looking for photos of a real original gm return spring part 3913415 only (no repop photos please)

According to GM Parts and Accessories catalogs the spring is black, 4.24" long, and 40 coils

Update: I received a PM of an 06B survivor car with a green spring not black. I'm not sure if both colors were used. My build date is 04D

Thank you for your help,
Jose

I'm in the process of having every decal/tag reproduced for my car but the decal maker does not have much to go on for 67's.

He has asked me for the following so he can reproduce what I need.

Codes, Part Numbers, and Colors, and reference photos

I attached my window sticker to help with this process. Luckily my original tire pressure sticker is still in the car.

If you can help me with this I'd greatly appreciate it!

Needed list I can think of:
Booster Tag
Jack Instructions
Front and Rear Spring Tags
Disc brake backing plate decals
Shock Decals
others?

Thank You!
Jose

Originality / 1967 L78 Window Sticker Analysis
« on: March 16, 2022, 01:25:24 AM »
Could you all help me compile a list of what my car came with and without when new?  Attached is a scan of my original window sticker.

The reason I bring this up is because I have seen another 1967 396 window sticker which includes options such as:
push button radio
735x14x2 ply w strp

Does this mean my car didn't have a radio or redline tires? Perhaps that other sticker is a reproduction? Did my car have F41 suspension?

Originality / 1967 Camaro Quarter Panel 2nd to 3rd Style Switch 04D
« on: February 02, 2022, 03:28:22 AM »
My 1967 Camaro VIN 124377N212598 with 04D build date has both the 2nd and 3rd design quarters.

The LH quarter date 14 is the 2nd design with full telephone and indentations.
The RH quarter date 16 is the 3rd design with top portion of the telephone-shape impression partially truncated.

I share this information to help pinpoint when the design change occurred since my car has both 2nd and 3rd style quarters.

Originality / Tuxedo Black 1967 396 Norwood Tailpan Blackout
« on: December 03, 2021, 11:21:50 PM »
After doing a search on this site, it seems 67-69 396 tailpanel blackout gloss %, the masking locations, and use on Tuxedo Black cars is sporatic.

Also according to the exterior section of this site, "Black SS-396 cars would not have received the (semi-gloss) blacked-out tailpans. But it should be noted that a few original paint black SS-396's have been observed with blacked-out tailpanels - the paint difference is only visible at the paint tape line."

My question is specifically for those who have owned or inspected original paint Tuxedo Black 1967 396 Norwood cars.

Have original paint Tuxedo Black 1967 396 Norwood Camaros been observed with separate blacked out tailpanels?

I'm not concerned with LOS cars, or 68-69 models.

Photo evidence with tapelines, or lack thereof are much appreciated.

Decoding/Numbers / NOS Coil Springs with Part Number without 2 Letter Code
« on: November 28, 2021, 08:09:57 PM »
I purchased a few sets of NOS coil springs with tags but none have a 2 letter callout on the tag.

For example: The set I have here is part number 3955722

Are they correct for '69  "YP" or "YM" code or both?

Are springs with the same part number identical and the 2 letter code just to clarify application?

Thanks!

Jose
