Decoding/Numbers / Front bumper date code
« on: May 13, 2020, 10:53:48 PM »
Are front bumpers date coded?  I saw an old thread that said no. There is a 259 stamped on my front bumper. It’s 06A build. That would make 25th week (first week of June)?  Is that a stretch?  Bob

General Discussion / 69/302 idle problem
« on: April 24, 2020, 09:12:36 PM »
Looking for alittle help. My 69z,with original engine and carb won't idle. I have had the carb rebuilt and looked at twice form Eric's carb shop. Distributor has been redone by Camaro Hi Performance. And engine was recently rebuilt, before I bought it.  I have set total timing @36. Car starts fine. I can get it to idle around 1500 rpms for about 10/15 mins. then it slowly dies. If i turn idle down, it wont idle at all.  Ive checked float bowls and set air mixture. Ive also checked for vacuum leaks around carb and intake manifold. Any ideas would be appreciated....Thanks Bob

How rare would head light washers be on a 69 non RS Z28?  (RPO CE1) I think.

General Discussion / Tires
« on: June 20, 2019, 08:18:09 PM »
Is anyone running the Firestone Wide Oval radial tires? Pros and cons?  The Goodyear Bias tires on my Z are over 15 years old.  They still look good, but alittle wary of them.  And would the FR70-15 fit?  Thanks Bob

General Discussion / Timing issue?
« on: May 10, 2019, 05:30:12 PM »
My 69 Z with original engine starts hard after it warms up.  It really lugs battery on restarts and barely turns over.  It has a brand new battery.  Im thinking its timing.  Put timing light on and cant get timing line to match tab.  Its on top.  If I degree timing light 25 degree it brings it in.  Ive never had to do that before.  Am I doing something wrong?  Also reset points to 30.  Is that correct?  Car idles around 1100 to 1000.  Im an old big block guy.  Never messed much with a 302, but heard they can be contrary.  The car runs great, doesn't stumble or blow black smoke.  Thanks for any help.  Bob

General Discussion / 06A info
« on: March 25, 2019, 12:11:57 AM »
I was reading thru some old threads and saw that all Camaros built in June 1969 have a 06A trim tag.  But I cant find out why.  Just curious. My car has 06A build, Engine is 06/04, Trans. 06/17, NCRS shows production date 06/26 and POP shows it was bought 06/30.  It didn't sit very long on the lot.  Thanks for any info Bob

General Discussion / Looking...
« on: January 28, 2019, 10:39:51 PM »
New to CRG, but not to Camaros.  What happened to the days you could trust someone and buy a real Z?  Ive been looking for another nice Z.  But there always seems to be something awry, or to good to be true.  Currently looking on Ebay at a Dover white Z with orange houndstooth interior.  Supposedly 1 of 3.  Cowl tag matches description.  Anyone seen it?   If anyone has any leads, let me know.......Thanks
