Originality / 1969 Dealer Order Form
« on: October 03, 2019, 02:04:01 AM »
Does anyone have a Dealer Order Form for the '69 Camaro?  I found the front side of a '67 Camaro order form in the CRG Steering Wheel Report  and maybe a piece of a '69 one n the CRG LM1 Report

The Chevelle Stuff web site has really nice examples the different paperwork including the front and back of the order form (about halfway down on the page)  It would be really cool to have this all in one place for the Camaro. Maybe an idea for a new CRG research topic :)

General Discussion / First gen Z/28 registry
« on: March 12, 2019, 01:54:50 PM »
Does the CRG consider its 'research database' a registry for all first gen Camaro models?   I'm surprised there isn't one for the first gen Z/28.

My understanding is Jerry Macneish maintains The Official 1967 Camaro Z/28 Registry. However is doesn't appear to be publicly accessible.  So basically this is just personal or business owned collection of data, likely a dang good one.   http://www.z28camaro.com/registry.html

Another is this 1968 Z/28 National Registry http://1968z28.com/ owned by Larry Eakin  The web site Mission states 'As the registry grows, we expect the information to help muscle car enthusiasts to more fully appreciate the 1968 Z/28 as one of the purist production based high performance cars of the 20th century.'   Well, the information is not shared so how is that helpful?

I've not located anything specific for the 1969 Z's.  So what's the deal?  There are other registries like sYc for the Yenko and ZL1.  This one can be viewed without even logging into the forum.  The 'vettes and Chevelle's are also good examples.   All even publish the full VIN.

Decoding/Numbers / Fisher Body Number Report (1969)
« on: December 10, 2018, 03:17:16 PM »
After reading the CRG report, I find it interesting that the body number sequence was reset in August 1969 because of the extended model year (my undergrad degree is Computer Science).  The body/order# range appears to have been ~100,000 to 400,000.  That would allow for 300,000 orders.  At the end of July 200,282 had been built (CRG end of month VIN report, LOS and NOR combined).  Its odd that ~1/3 of the order numbers were not assigned.  Maybe a COBOL program with some serious issues :)

My 69 is a Norwood 02D with a Feb 28 production date (NCRS, VIN also ~30 from the last). Subtracting the total units built to date (LOS+NOR) and the initial order# (100000) from its body# is ~32,000.  (264782 Fisher# - 132,552 built - 100,000 = 32230 ).  The order# for this car is ahead of number of Camaros built to date.

I checked some other dates combining the CRG end of month VIN report with some available trim tag body#.  Working with limited data there appears to be ~10K unused order# per month that accumulate.  Having spent more time than may be prudent on this, I would like to know if the group has any insight on why this occurred.  Some of my sample data is below.

Thanks
Rob

Originality / '69 bell housing bolts
« on: October 25, 2018, 01:44:57 PM »

I've heard the early '69s bell housing bolts had an 'M' marking.  These supposedly changed to 'A' marked ones at some point.  Anyone know roughly when this occurred?

Is this Hurst shifter code number correct for a 69 Z/28 02D build?  I did read the report :)  Just want to confirm before getting into restoring it

Thanks !

Decoding/Numbers / 69 inner lower quarter panel stamp
« on: June 08, 2018, 05:17:21 PM »

I found this sheet metal stamp on the LH inside lower rear quarter panel.  It appears to be more than a date code.  Maybe some kind of run number?  This is on my 69, 02D build.
