You guys are all correct. This seller is shooting for the moon. I had to beg him to let me come look at the car the first morning cause he was getting ridiculously low offers at first and I felt like telling him, what did he expect not even hinting in the ad at what he was looking for. He's got the TV show mentality that someone has got to have it and will overpay for it. It's a good solid start of a real car to restore but it has to make sense. I have not spoken to him since the first morning it posted so not sure who is filling his head with all the "rare" option ideas. I thought the rear spoiler was wrong, myself. Maybe time will help bring him back to a reasonable deal and he'll cut the car loose.

I did sell this car. It went to the San Jose area to be re-born with a modern LS drivetrain. Good solid starting point since the original drivetrain was long gone.

Hello everyone. I'm the one that originally found/posted this 69 z28 survivor. It is back on CL locally here in Northern Cal. so apparently it has not sold. After reading up on the te previous posts I can tell you that it does have a fold down seat. Also, he has now listed it as an "early" 69 with the "rare" narrow rear spoiler. So someone has been there with some knowledge of these cars. Don't know if that's adding to his idea of waiting for a big offer or what. Also, the ad now reads "this was a 2 4 car". I mentioned early on in my posts that it has the "cable" throttle linkage hanging on the firewall. I remember reading somewhere that cross rams used that linkage (as well as L6's). Is that correct?

You guys are good! I am on the prowl and have located another 68 R/S I'm trying to pick up. Lots of interest in this car already so it may be sold soon. P.S. love my cheap seats!!!!

Ok a little more of what I saw and heard while I was there looking in person. The dash metal is painted silver like the exterior (see pics) which means this car was pretty far apart for the color change. Now I believe the paint happened in the late 1980's or early 1990's. The current owner new of this car for quite a while before he purchased it. So he had researched what he could to verify the numbers on the engine and trans. back then before he purchased it once the previous owner put it up for sale. I believe he was concerned that since the car had been drag and street raced that some of the parts may be switched. He stated to me that he has the original DZ motor, carb and intake, but wasn't sure if the heads were original to the car. Aslo, the original M21 is already restored along with the linkage. Thats as far as I got with him. He didn't say anything about the dist or alt and pulleys etc. I know that stuff matters but considering the condition of the car itself, it still seems like $25K is a deal. Also, this owner had worked at our local Chevy dealer prior to owning this car so he new what he was looking for back then. I think the real reason this car has sat is because he mentioned going through a divorce "20" years ago and she tried to get the car. So I think it needed to stay out of site for a while. Fast forward 20 years and he's decided to "move on". P.S. I haven't heard if a deal has been made as of Friday 5-8-15

Good catch on the concrete core in the console pic! I didn't want to push my luck and ask him why. Another foot note to the story since I'm sharing what I was told by the owner: Two summers ago there was a major fire in this rural area where he lives. He was the last person to be taken out by the Cal Fire crew. He said when he looked back there were 40-50 ft. high flames across the road from his garage. Somehow all that burned were the steps to the side door. He lost two other cars and three more sheds but it went right around the garage. Check the back ground in the pics and see the dry grass again (and burnt trees) He said god must like Camaros cause there's no reason the shop should've made it. Almost lost one more of these treasures. I hope someone puts a deal together to restore this one properly.

Thanks for the link. I need to brush up on my 69 details I guess. So along this line, I have seen Rally Green and Hugger Orange cars with black stripes in the past. Incorrect repaints I guess?

Somebody with better knowledge than me on 69's will have to confirm the spoiler thing. I'm more of a 67-68 guy. I know just enough to get myself in trouble

Steering wheel type makes sense but dark green in this car I would imagine. Tail pan pic shows dents from the bottom of the guards location. Also, 67-68 style rear spoiler.After looking at my pics I see that it is an old style two shaft cassette player (no cutting of the bezel)

A few more pics.amazing that the silver facing on the dash bezel is good. This car is not sun burnt, just a crappy 80's repaint that's faded.  One of the rear bumper guards and the center caps are inside the car. He said the other guard got lost.

A couple of things from the 1980's that need to be unwound is: filled fender antenna hole (power antenna located in pass quarter), wrong steering wheel, aftermarket cassette player in dash, ignition box on firewall, "disco louvers" on inside of rear window, and tow hooks of front subframe. It was supposedly drag raced back in the day here locally. More pics:

It's an LA built car. It is all the money in my book too, but for someone looking to build and keep one it's a great platform with all the proper stuff present. No money to be spent on metal work other than stripping it it down for paint work. Another local 69 collector has pictures from years ago when it was in bare metal for this repaint. He tried to buy it at that time (when it was in the body shop) but it wasn't for sale. So take that for what it's worth. Here are some more pics from when I was there.
