I no longer have the orig gas line on my car but I know for sure the orig line I removed back in 1988 from my 68 396 car was a single line 3/8"

I would make up a vacuum gauge with a tee and test the vacuum at the engine and test the vacuum at each headlight actuator. i actually put a restrictor inline to my one actuator to slow it down for a perfect timing of the doors closing

I had terrible luck with the color coded vac hose's cracking at every connection within 3 years, I a bought the complete kit in the late 80's, but curious if the quality of these have improved 25 years later?

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Vin for data base

I tried looking for the numbers on the motor mounts but I am pretty sure those numbers are on the bottom and I can't see them so I will have to post them one day in the future. The car in the next year or two will be coming apart again for a freshening up and new paint amazing how they deteriorate after 25 years even sitting in the garage and driven very little.

is the engine mount numbers on the front side or back side? I gotta believe its going to be tough to see them with the headers. It does have a big block heater core, had a factory big radiator in it, pretty sure the big blocks sit slightly to the passenger side also.
Its for sure a orig RS also, back in 88 I bought GM brand new quarters, fenders and a rear tail piece and the holes and wirings were all factory for the reverse lights, came with all the vacuum tanks and actuators still mounted, but had to change the actuators to operate the doors. Everything worked perfect for a couple years after the restoration until the cheap aftermarket color coded vacuum lines started cracking and leaking haha

The deluxe interior is all original and perfect except for the headliner and rear speaker deck. the headliner was only changed because a smoker in the rear seat decided to poke there cigarette threw the head lineer  :(  The carpet still has a tag stapled on it but its not a GM name on it, been a while since I looked at it but its dated 1967 and the car is a January build so I know its factory

Ok I read that writeup but somehow I missed about the D,E and W for the carrier type and being on the second line,  thanks for explaining that!

I thought the extra letter "E" was strange and the 3.31 ratio seamed much lower numericaly than I would have guessed, it used to have a 4.10 gear in it when I bought but I guess that was added later on

I work with a older friend that back in 1970 went to the dodge dealer to get a 383 or 440 challenger but ended up walking out with a 340 T/A, they were hugely discounting it because nobody wanted the 340 including himself.
But after basically offering to sell it for cost to him he could not pass the deal up. He said it was actually a super fast car and never regretted buying it and of course now regrets ever selling it.

Yes I was aware of the tach redlines and I did ask her to try and take a picture of the dash but she could not get the doors open to do that. I have a feeling there will be nothing there.

Thanks for the links

Thanks Kurt! how do I contact Jerry, sorry I am new around here :)

Besides the single gas line what other clues are there to the car being a L78?

The x44 does seam look like a Cortez silver paint on dark blue interior, probably a nice color combo. It is strange it has no emblems, maybe a previous accident which would explain the color change.
The X11 is a hugger orange black interior
Ashame my friend stored these cars in the manner there where, hopefully there is enough body parts for 2 complete cars, she says she has lots of extra parts but who knows what that really means
