Trans-Am Camaros / Re: Trans Am racing pace car pics...are there any?
« on: January 10, 2020, 07:19:43 PM »
Does anyone know how many of the 602 1967 Z28’s went to the Trans Am teams and were never used on the street? How many documented 1967 Z28’s are still out there?

Has anyone seen a previous year casting style block used as a warranty block for the next model year? My 2657 casting, which was for 1967 model year, is stamped as a CE8XXXXX, with an assembly date stamped on the starter area of 08 7 F...... seems unusual to have been assembled that early for the 68 model year. Did they use whatever castings were leftover?

The 67 had no identifying emblems to say Z28 and would not have a spoiler. Only exterior clue would be the stripes...... but now every car has Z stripes. I see people with a beautifully restored SS and put Z stripes on it.....CRAZY

Decoding/Numbers / 19W328256 Muncie
« on: November 16, 2017, 11:39:33 PM »
Hi guys. I'm pretty sure this Muncie 4 speed I bought isn't from a 69 Camaro but I'm trying to figure out what it did come out of. Stamped P9P24, I get Muncie, 1969 model year, built Sept. 24. The stamped vin is
19W328256. Don't know what the W means........

  Any help would be appreciated.

A fraud perpetrated by an individual with the intent to profit it from it is theft by deception anyway you spell it! The people doing these stamps have no sense of pride in the Hobby so it makes zero difference to them who the Manufacturer is, it is only a dollar sign for them. I applaud all of you that are committed in this Hobby and maintain the records to offer FREE advice when asked about an issue. You are few and far between anymore and those of us that love this Hobby certainly appreciate this more than words can say.

Honesty, no matter how brutal, has always been and shall always be, the best policy. Bravo to the men that are staying strong in this!

What's the reason for pulling the side cover Mike? There will be limited access to see inside even if it does come off unless you drop the crossmember and let it hang.......

Short answer if you do like the look enough to change things up occasionally, Purchase and Paint a spare lower valance to go with it. I'm thinking of doing a spare deck lid for my 67 SS with the spoiler. we all know that 67's didn't have a spoiler option but sometimes we still like the look.........

And as grown adults we should respect all of those opinions even when we disagree with them. I personally believe that Gary is making a very good point on the POTENTIAL for someone to defraud an individual on the purchase of something that it is not. Taking for example most of you on here will whole - heartedly agree taking a "plain Jane" and slapping Z-28 badging on it has been attempted too many times to count, and many of those efforts were done to defraud to potential buyer into believing that they were getting something that was not really what the badging showed. And even now the current wave of reproduction "Original Window Sticker and POP".  Long story short these cars are getting more scarce by the day and if you are lucky enough to own one, you should cherish it for what it is and means to you personally and not give 2 hoots about anyone's opinion!!!  All I got to say about that right now.
