Thanks for responding James, my car was built in Norwood, so I guess you answered my question, it just seems odd that the rims would be replaced, it only has 71k original miles on it, and was only on the road for 8 years, unless the previous owner put the steel wheels on it for storage. So my next question is should I assume it originally had steel wheels and not rally wheels, I would prefer Rally wheels, than having to deal with hub caps, but I would like to put on what it had originally, but I don’t have any documentation to prove what it had, so any suggestions?

Thanks, Michael

Hi all, I have an all original 68 camaro SS convertible, that’s been sitting since 1976, I was looking at the date codes on the rims and 2 of them are a HG code, (68 Firebird) not FC as they should be, and both are the same exact date, my question is since they are built at the same plant could these be original to the car, or has anyone seen this before.

Thanks Michael

Originality / Teal blue 68 SS Camaro convertible 4 speed barn find

Hi all, I just purchased a teal blue 68 Camaro SS convertible, from a friend, which he purchased from a good friends widow, it’s been sitting since 1976, still has the 1976 PA inspection on the glass, with the mileage on it, it’s a true time capsule, the white top is dirty but is in great shape, it does need a restoration though, it had a bag of salt in the drivers side trunk to add weight for winter, so there is some damage on the rear quarter, but the trunk is good, I have a lot of pics, but I don’t think I can post any being a newbie. The only parts that I see that were replace was the alternator and the carburetor, not sure why a car only 8 years on the road would have them changed out. It still has all the smog as well. I think this car would be a good source of history. Thanks Michael

Thanks Ed, I wasn’t sure with having power steering, power top, and smog pump that a 37amp would be sufficient.

Hi all, What would be the correct alternator for a 68 Camaro SS 350 convertible with power steering, power top and smog, obviously no ac. I was told it would be a 1100794 37amp. Thanks Michael

Hi, Still looking for anyone with any suggestions to what these numbers could decode to. I seen on another forum a early 69 z28 had a LG7 on the bulkhead and the owner said it had a rare light green interior color which would maybe confirm the LG (light green) and he said the 7 decodes to z28 without style trim,  and I am not sure of the validity of that. Also another owner chimed in and said he had a LG1 on his bulkhead and his would decode as LG (light green) with a 1 meaning car with style trim or RS. So I was wandering if my 8 and 1 could mean z28 with style trim for my car which would be correct. Just throwing that out there. Thanks, Michael

Hi, I am new to the site and need some help. I have a 01b 69z28rs x33 car and I removed my rear seats and noticed that there was a # 8 and a # 1 in yellow chalk or grease pen on the metal framing bulkhead. They are located to left side of the rear seat if you were sitting in the back seat.  Please let me know if it has any significance. Thank you, Michael
