If you're working with stock or Guldstrand pick up points, you should be able to dial out most of the BS by shimming the outer tie rod pivot down and have room inside a 15" minilite or panasport.  Even if you've moved stuff around, start plotting and tell us what you come up with.

I really like the sway bar design.  It's the exact opposite of the design on the car I was involved with.  Same adjust-ability, same unsprung weight but opposite.  Cool to see the different ways folks skinned the cat.

I just posted to the wrong thread. Thanks for the info.  Cool car.

Thanks for the pics.  My buddy was at the '74 run offs and mentioned running against one of the Chaparral cars .  Said it was bad fast. I'd never seen a picture of it.

Trans-Am Camaros / Re: Current minilites vs JL-8 brakes?

Thanks Bullitt et. al.
I'm familiar with the VintageWW as well as PSE.  I'm primarily interested in the UK minilites because I'm looking for Aluminum and at a reasonable cost.  I'm fairly confident they'll clear the calipers but I also want to ensure the back spacing will work as well as this car isn't flaired.

The "minilite"design has varied considerable over the years with some shapes needing a bit of grinding to clear.    They sent me a go/no go drawing that says it should work but I would love to hear confirmation.

Trans-Am Camaros / Current minilites vs JL-8 brakes?
« on: March 15, 2015, 09:38:41 PM »
Can anyone confirm that the minilites that are being produced now in 15X8@4.5 will fit the vintage spec JL8 brakes?  Meaning C3- corvette calipers on camaro spindles upfront and on a 12 bolt rear. Thanks.W

Jon,
Do you know which one was at the '74 nationals as an A/S?

Trans-Am Camaros / new JL8 12bolts?
« on: February 13, 2015, 05:00:34 PM »
Has anyone had a company build them a new aftermarket 12 bolt with JL8 brackets? If so, how'd it go?  I'd like to buy a rear that's ready to bolt on C3 the caliper brackets.

Top link is a center mounted traction bar a' la a three link.  Solid or spring loaded.  Sounds like 1109's description of a Donohue photo answered my question.

You're correct.  I knew it was a school!  Do you know if anyone ran a top link?

Yes, that's a real deal '67 Z-28 with Trans-Am race history. It was originally a Deepwater blue car with blue standard interior. and a legit heater delete car as well. The car is a strong runner in SVRA back east but would need money invested in it to be legal to run in the Historic Trans-Am group on the West Coast. A very cool car that I hope finds a good home. I'd love to have it in my own garage.
Haven't seen it out few years but the last time I saw it it was stunning. Super clean, beautiful Deepwater paint, period fenders, engin bay, cabin... Sharp. But not fast.

Was it the Chaffee College car that ran a three link at some point?

The center mounted top link is the preffered traction aid in vintage racing today. Was it used back in the day?
