Clear coat brand is PPG Global 894. You can feel the stripes.

It's actually not a hard line up close. I'm going to leave the firewall alone. I will have to look at the cowl panel when its set in place. If you can see yellow separation I will fix it.

Thanks! I'm beyond pleased with the final outcome. It's pretty cool building a yellow-Z just like my Dad rebuilt his with my Uncle 25 years ago. I'll be able to remember this one a lot better and enjoy the memories. As for the firewall paint line...I haven't seen the car in person. I'm heading up to the shop this weekend to see her. Work seems to get in the way a little too much.

Yes the orginal poster would love to see the top of the cowl of a Daytona yellow Z preferabally. The top of the cowl should be yellow and if you follow the picture in the aim manual it shows fine lines where the black out was painted over too the yellow on the cowl. From what I've read they did not use a template so it's fogged?

I searched through the pictures as well and there are some decent shots of how the factory brought the black fire wall pant up to meet the body color on the cowl. I am in need of what a properly done cowl area (where the windshield wipers are located) looks like when it is painted as the factory did. People say Van Nuys did it like this and Norwood did it like this but someone somewhere must of repainted their cowl area back to factory specs and possibly have pictures of what it's supposed to look like when replicated from what the factory did...

Does anyone have some good pictures of what the cowl area paint looks like on a car that came with black stripes? My Z28 is Daytona yellow. I have read that Norwood did it different than LA. My car is a Norwood car. Thanks for the help.

When I used the search bar I located one other topic about my question. The question being did the Z/28's come with pin stripes along with their regular stripes? What if it was a Rally/Z/28 does that change things in this case? My dad's car had both the z-stripes along with pin stripes and I thought it looked pretty good. Does anyone have a definitive answer. My cars build date was January/69 if that makes a difference.

Well in that case this weekend I cut the newly replaced "outer cowl panel" off. I then proceeded to cruise the internet and my camaro parts catalogs for an "outer cowl panel or saddle bag" at Ricks/NPD/Heart Beat City...etc and all they stock are these cowl panel replacements that include the outer "tulip panel". This is just great! I cut the newly replaced panel off for no reason and now I have to order an "outer tulip panel" after all. My luck sometimes.
Point of my initial post was to show the replacement of the panel no matter what you want to call it, and to give some appreciation to my family for coming through for me big time.
