Holy Cow; I'm more confused now then when we started. Are they all correct? I was going to do this project myself; not
now. Will hand this job off to the pros in the painting dept. Don't know which pattern I'll do. Larry ???

This project is turning out to be more complex then what I thought at the beginning. Here is a few loose end questions for our members.

1) I assume that all trim is to be taken off like the trim around the front wheel wheels and the chrome rocker trim; correct?

2) All bolts should be removed before the paint; correct?

3) Hard to tell by pictures given but the black on the panel (where the panel turns horizontal) is consistent throughout. This means
when the factory done it the body of the car was up in the air. If car was down lower I would assume the black paint would
be heavier on the end then lighter as it gets towards the frame. Correct? If yes then a "lift" would be needed to do the job.

All comments are welcomed and thanks.  Larry

Cook may have already answered your question with his 69 pic.

Yes; thanks to Cook DW for picture. Did find some info on the "Search". Type of the color Black is still in question. To me it looks like a
Satin Black. (Like Rustoleum 7777) Will go with that unless I hear different. Larry

Do a little searching on the site, there are some good threads on proper finish ( % gloss) and were to mask off to get it correct. Seems like it was a hot topic a few months ago. Assuming RS package ?

janobyte: Have tried search but coming up MT; can not find the wording of that thread so search would work. FYI  Larry

janobyte: No RS package; standard Z28. Thanks; Larry

Have a 1969 Camaro Z28 that has been certified by Jerry MacNeish. One of the corrections that need to be done that was
reported in the certification was: "Lower Rocker Area should be painted semi/gloss black below the rocker molding". Car was
repainted years ago and all that area was painted "Hugger Orange" the original color. Enclosed is a picture of the area. Can
someone please post a picture how it should look? What kinda black should be applied. Eg. like Rustoleum 7777 or ??. Please
comment on this. Thanks--Larry

Originality / Re: 1100837 Alternator Stamping - Original?
« on: December 05, 2013, 01:45:52 PM »
Here is my 2 cents worth. Picture below is mine and OK'd by Jerry MacNeish. I talked to John Pirkle (Now Deceased) on the stampings
of alternators and he indicated that a lot where slopy stamped. Many had that "ghost" figure we see all the time. Stamping of the alt.
where not in the same ballpark as engine stampings. (Where some where stamped on the slopy side also) I think most org. are trying to
make a science out of this from a time where no one cared how the stamp was including the stamper. IMHO Larry

Being a Corvette guy also; have gone to many Al Grenning/John Hinckley seminairs. IIRC the painting process changed in 1968. Prior
to that there was some overspray on the exhaust manifolds but none on them from 1968 on up. Correct me if I am wrong. Larry

With my Chevrolet products I use the paint from "Quanta Products". Have passed in all judging
like NCRS/AACA. http://www.gastanks.com/Restoration-Spray-Paints/products/1954/

Interesting that the Zone Letter refers to discontinuation of NC8 dual chambered exhaust for "Camaro SS". If that included Z28, perhaps it was a typo and meant to be "Camaros" ??

Another question comes about is what happened to all the Chamber Pipes and Hardware that where left in the production line bins at the time of                                         May 19? I think we can all assume that the supply of the Chamber Pipes and Hardware didn't run out on May 19th. Would not GM want to use up
the supplies then change it plans like they do with all there other change over parts?? Larry

Can you guys tell me if an O1C build date Z/28 would of came factory with Chambered Exhaust? Thanks!

FWI: The last entry on the NC8 option in tha AIM is 6/13/69 indicating the RPO is cancelled. Larry

Remember that the dates in the revision block in the A.I.M. are only the date the sheet was revised in the Drafting Room, not the date the revision occurred in production; NC8 was cancelled on May 19th.

What GM documantation backs up your(or anybody elses) exact date of May 19th?? Just curious. Larry

your car itself may be 1/2" lower on the driver side....  it's not uncommon after years of having a single passenger (the driver).. :)

69Z28: Thanks for the response. Never thought of that; where would be a good accurate place to take that measurment on the car?
Thanks--Larry

Just a followup with a question. Everything installed nicely. Looks/Sounds great. On observation looking at the muffler from the rear of car is looks very nice
and equal distance from the floor. (This is with the car on the floor; jackstands removed) But when I take a measurment with a ruler there is a 1/2" difference
from the floor. The driver side is closer to the floor then the passenger. The AIM does not give any specs on this. If anybody out there with a chamber pipe option
can you measure yours? Is mine within the limits? When I installed the new hanger on the driverside I used a floorjack to raise the system up. Comments Please!
Thanks in advance--Larry
