Thanks Pickle. I do have a print off of that site. The info. Mike has is partly true. The stuff he posted was stuff he was given by the owner before him, so it's not Mikes fault some of it is wrong. It was the only thing he had to go by. Mike does a great job restoring the cars he does so I don't want an of this to be taken the wrong way on his part.

Thanks. That was one of the sites I planned on posting on. I wanted to put it in front of as many people as I could. I know how knowledgable Jon and the others are on this forum. Just wanted to increase my chances posting in several places.
Thanks

Trans-Am Camaros / Need info on this car.
« on: April 29, 2013, 10:58:41 PM »
I told the owner I would help him find info. on his 1968 Mustang. The car was restored by Mike Mulcahy. Mike has a web page filled with false race history information. It was said that Wes Dawn drove the car. The current owner said he talked with Wes's wife and she sent him a picture of the 66 Stang Wes drove, but no 68.. The owner was told when it was ran in the trans am  series it was in the Texas region and was raced in California. But it's just hear say. In the owners research he was told the car was either light blue or white with Slide and Dive Waco Texas on the quarter panel. But was told no driver name or car number. I know the information listed isn't hard evidence to go on , but I hope it rings a bell of someone.
Thanks
Justin

Thanks for looking. I have a few more things to try tomorrow, after that I don't know where else to look. When I saw it I was trying to find info. on the Challenger and Nova from the 1971 Riverside race.

The picture I saw must be hard to find. I'm still looking for it. It must be in on of the online photo sites like photobucket. That must be why I can't get it to pull up in google images or bing images.

Thanks for the help guys. I think you might be on to something Jon. I will see where that takes me. I remember the photo I saw was a color photo of the #76 car going around a turn. It was the driver side of the car with primer on the driver side wheel opening with the R/T stripe missing on the quarter panel. It was a very close up shot just enough to get the whole car in frame.

As few sponsor decals that are on the car in the picture I posted I wonder if it's early in the season? Like they may have been done with the #77 car but not the 76 but had it for backup. Also the primer on the wheel well may be where they flared the fender out and didn't have time to paint. I have seen a driver side picture of the car that is a very close up picture with the primer on that side as well. Thats the picture I would like to get.

Looking for pictures of Sam Posey's #76 Challenger with primer on the rear wheel well. I found a picture on photo bucket with no info. on it. It's both the 77 and 76 in the pits. I have searched for others and have come up empty. I know there out there because I have seen other pictures just can find them now that I'm looking for them. Any help with pictures or links would be great thanks.

To Kerry and Ken I hope this helps on your question about what color the car started life as. This is a picture I found while doing research on the car for the recreation I did. I'm guessing gas must have got on it and bubbled it up and flaked off. This could the factory color or it could have been the copper color from the 1971 paint job. I wouldn't think they would have repainted the inside of the deck lid anyways, but who knows. Or could have damaged the original lid and used replacement lid.

Thanks Jon. And no I don't want to litter up the forum with the Forza replica Trans Am cars. Like I said before I couldn't pass up the chance for the current owner and maybe even the original driver to see may recreation of the car.  So thanks for understanding.

I thought the current owner of the car would get a kick out of this picture. I race and paint Trans Am race cars on Forza 4 (Xbox). I paint them as close to the real car as possible with what i have to work with. You only get basic shapes , numbers, letters ect.. Then you strech and layer them to get what you want. I know the wheels aren't correct, but it's the closest ones in the game to the real thing. I tryed to recrate the pit stop photo that Jon posted. The photos on this site was a huge help to build this car. Thank you for all of your time and hard work on your research and sharing it. And if anyone would like to do some very true to it roots trans am racing on Xbox hit me up ( AlphaTide ).

Jon I hope it was ok to post on this thread. I saw the current owner of the car was on here and I really wanted him to see the car. Also people can compair it with the photo you posted and see it was pretty well executed. I hope it's worthy of being on the forum. If not I will not post anymore.  I have more pictures of the car if anyone would like to see them. Just let me know.
Thanks,
Justin

Thank you so much for the infomation. I have used this forum as a valuable tool for research. I want to thank all of you for your hard work. If you are like me the fun is in the chase for the info. your looking for. You always learn and find so much you didn't know about while in search for something. This has been my first time to post on the forum. I have always in the past found what I was looking for, so I have never felt like I needed to waste space by posting something that was already there ( if you search for it). I was at the end of all my research tools with the two cars above. So thank you for letting me waste some space. lol And thanks again for your time and efforts with all the work you do on here Jon and all others that help..
