Did you use the T2 form or the T3?

Neither.  I got really lucky and followed a hunch I had.  I found another site (pay for a 5 year service) and it queries state databases.  Seems like some states' laws are different and, for example, I ran the VIN of my current truck, and no data came up at all.  The truck has spent its entire life in Alabama, so Alabama must have a more strict privacy law than others.  When I queried the Camaro VIN, it gave me the full details of the guy I sold it to in Wisconsin  - address, plate number, etc., as well as the information for the guy I bought it from in Mississippi, but none of my info, and no information for SC.  On a hunch, I checked to see if there was the same name person in SC, and sure enough, the guy I sold it to still has the car and has moved from WI to SC.  Found his contact information in the white pages.

OK here's what you do----
1- Go to SCDMVonline.com
2-on the left side of the homepage click on forms and manuals
3-next to last is the TR-3 form

Print that form fill it out as a repair shop and send them $26 and you will have your info in 72hrs good luck

That's amazing.  I had no idea this could be done.  Thanks for the input.

Guys, I have located the car and the owner.  He was not too receptive to the concept of selling the car, but did tell me he would consider it and get back with me later.  We'll see and fingers crossed.

trying the "police buddy" thing, but no luck yet.  Fingers are still crossed.

You can look up my threads over at TC about this but here is the digest version:

The old insurance industry database was federalized and sanitized via the privacy act removing all names and addresses. All the approved vendors offering reports are pulling off the same database so the content will be the same, just the output is different.

Some are just raw tele-type looking printouts, others are full of slick graphics and explanations of the different title brands applied to that vehicle. So look at all the vendors sample reports and see what is best your your needs and eyes, then use them for your report. I used the one that offered paypal payments Auto Data Direct.

I used Auto Data Direct off of your suggestion in a thread over on team camaro.  The report would not give me the current owner's info, but did tell me the car is now in South Carolina.  That thread I found over there was very helpful.  thanks 69pace.  The title history, dates and states titled, helped double confirm for me that I did in fact have the correct VIN.  Even though it didn't give me the final answer I need, it got me moving in the right direction for sure.

So knowing it is in SC helps narrow it down, but I still have a lot more work to get there.

I actually live in a wide spot in the middle of the road called Heflin. When you leave Piedmont go Hwy. 9 south to 78 then up to Heflin to catch I20.    Sound about right?

Yep.  Right through/on the edge of the Talladega National Forest.

Anniston / Oxford area. We are over on the Georgia border I-20 half way between Atlanta and Birmingham.  Your car and the back ground looks real familiar and they used to have a benefit golf tournament and car show over there.

OK.  I think I know where you are talking about.  I never took it there for a show when I owned it.  I pretty much only did the big Saginaw show (picture above) and some local cruise ins.  Maybe the current owner has been showing it there.

BTW.  When I go to Atlanta from my house, I go through Gadsden and then Piedmont and pick up I-20 just a couple miles W of the Ga line.  Probably go pretty close to your area.

Hey Jonathan was this picture taken at Pine Hill Country Club ? Looks awful familiar.

No.  It was at the Delphi Saginaw Plant in Decatur, AL (10 miles east of Huntsville) at the annual car show they used to host.  I think it was actually called "Greater Tennessee Valley Car Show."  This pic was taken in the morning of July 10, 1999, 4 years before I sold it.

Where is Pine Hill Country Club?

Thanks,
Jonathan

Hey all. I am trying to track down my old Camaro that I stupidly sold about 8 years ago. I am in Alabama and I sold it to a guy in Wisconsin. After a couple years of looking, I have finally yesterday found the VIN.  I did a search of NMVTIS and it shows the car was titled in Wisconsin in 2003, which matches when/where I sold the car to, so this confirmed I have the correct VIN. It shows now to be titled in South Carolina and title was issued end of July, 2009.  But the site would not give me any identifying information.

1967 Camaro
VIN 124377N195014

It is a 67 Camaro RS/SS
Tahoe Turquoise with white bumblebee stripe
Black Deluxe Interior
L35 396/325 hp
Muncie M20 4 speed
12 bolt posi
Front Disc brakes
Console Gauges
I was the 2nd owner of the car and sold it with about 85k miles
Not original engine, but rest of drivetrain was original.
Not a show car, but VERY nice driver.  Had a couple non-stock touches, but nothing serious -

I decoded the trim tag before I bought it and it was the real deal. Only thing I couldn't confirm from the tag was the console gages.

Anyway, again, any help at all will be greatly appreciated.  I really have a lot of attachment to this car and really want to get it back.  Any of you South Carolina guys (or other nearby states) seen this car around?

Here is a pic of it at a car show a couple years before I sold it.
