Thank you,  I will look in that book again.

I truly appreciate the guidance

Jerry McNeish's Book has everything as far as colors listed in the back.

Restoration / engine compartment colors

Hi all,

is there a restoration guide that shows what gets painted from the chassis and motors parts within the engine compartment?   and what colors  ?

I have numbers matching 69 Z28, but through the years and previous owners, they painted many of the parts black and others orange, when i know they should be raw metal or black etc.

I have heard these types of lists exist for tri 5 Chevys and stuff, I hoping there is one for my Camaro

i have been using them for everything over the last year, Dave is spectacular

I think i am going to convert the car to a RS grille

the tabs for the RS opting are there, and the inner fenders are the RS ones as well, so i am thinking that the car may have started life as a RS Z28 and may have been converted at some point if the owner got tired of the doors not work or maybe it got hit in the nose and this was cheaper, who knows, but i think at this point it will be less expensive to convert to RS grille

You would be correct.

I know its tough to make money now, but customer service has gone out the window at most places.

I have to say, Dave at Heartbeatcity.com has been a huge help on my restoration project so far

Ive got the book open to the page now

this is great since i can see a clip i am missing.

I did call a reseller and they are emailing me a page of the instructions to review, they didnt want to send the whole thing

you all are awesome as always

Typical - they sell you a kit, it is missing parts and instructions and they don't want send replacements - I assume unless you repay for them.

That is a great idea ,  Thanks

Im going to try that tomorrow

Ask the retailers if you can "preview" the instructions to see if you want to go ahead with the purchase.

I do have the AIM, i will go back to that.

I was hoping there may be a step by step guide, since there are so many parts included in the system. I know if you buy the entire kit from resellers they come with those step byy step instructions, or at least they say they do, Ive never seen one personally

I found a shop in Van Nuys.  Just a mile or so from the old factory where the car was manufactured

It is all original and Im literally picking the car up Tuesday from a total nuts and bolt (and money) restoration

thats kinda why i asked for opinions, you are right, it wont look original with tinted windows, thats my quandary

I think you are both right and i should do whats best for the me and the car which is tint them, im not interested in having it judged or anything, the restoration was just for me. I wanted it dead stock and totally original since it is a  numbers matching Z28

General Discussion / Window Tinting preferences

Hi

i was wondering what you all think of tinting windows on an all original first gen car?

I have a 69 Z28 and I live in So Cal, it gets really hot here and all my other cars i tint the windows to keep the sun out and UV rays

I always look at other peoples cars and dont see too many that tint the window's

anyone have strong feelings one way or another ?

I know i can peel it off if i need to, and I have no intentions of selling the car.

does it take away from the originality? or the look? or is this really a stupid question and I should just tint them ?

Hi All,

Im happy to announce to all of you that have helped me with all of my dopey questions on my Z28 restoration that we are done with everything except for paint and body work which i will do in the summer when it is too hot to drive it with no A/C.

We have restored, repaired, and rebuilt every part that could be, and replaced those parts that couldn't be used with exact period parts (thanks ebay).   we  test drove it today and to quote the mechanic, it is fast as snot :-)

I so appreciate everyone's help
