Restoration / front fender bolt finish
« on: February 18, 2011, 08:50:38 PM »
Hello all! Just curious about the correct fender bolt finish for my 68' RS. Specifically, I'm referring to the bolts that hold the front fenders to the top of the radiator support. Are these supposed to be black phosphate or painted to match the body color? Thanks to anyone with advise!

Originality / 68 woodgrian ashtray help
« on: January 08, 2011, 03:14:33 PM »
I have a 68 Los 12a car with the deluxe interior & console. I was wondering what ashtray is correct? The car has woodgrain around the radio and controls and such, and a black ashtray. Should it be black or woodgrain? I also went through many previous posts looking for pics of the orginal GM ashtray. I think the one I have might be aftermarket. Any info or pics anyone could offer to compare is appreciated. Thank you!

Restoration / Re: Brake Proportioning Valve (for 1968)

Vic, Not sure on what or when they used this. but, one thing for sure is that the use of this regulator valve was inconsistent. My 68' rs 327 with a/c does not have one of these, or show evidence that one ever existed. Hope this helps!

Vic, That's the same spot I'm in. I'd like to paint it with something so that it looks correct, but will last a long time. I'd prefer it not to rust again it I strip it. I guess I'm looking for the same answer.

I was looking for any tips/advise on painting or restoring the finish on the power steering box on my 68' RS. I'm told by some that it was originally a natural finish, while others say black, or "spray gray" from Eastwoods, and so on. Can anyone recommend a spray paint that looks good and is still "correct"? Thank you!

Hey Mark! What did you have them do for you? What were you unhappy about?

Hello CRG! I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a company or someone out there that rebuilds/repaints a/c compressors. I'm looking to have the original redone on my 68' rs. Thank you!

bowtie68iho, I'm on the hunt for the same stove pipe and tube for my 68 L30 sb as everyone else. Do you happen to have any pics of them? I'm also interested in what the correct breather tube from the valve cover to air cleaner should look like. Seems like this set up is just as hard to find. Thanks! Kevin

Thanks for the info guys! I'm surprised there's no reference info for these codes. This may be a whole new topic of interest for the purists.
