I just posted the same question on Team Camaro. Yep, got all the same responses there as well. You send in your money and card #. They will notify you when something comes in. LOL, scam? legal? Yes on both counts!  ::)

General Discussion / Re: Original Drivetrains
« on: June 10, 2012, 12:31:56 PM »
Very interesting discussion. I was in my late teens, early 20's when the muscle cars hit the streets. At the time I had a 65 GTO, and two of my buddies had Camaros. A 68 SS 350, and a 69 SS 396. If anyone's car blew a trans or motor it was replaced with OME or a quick trip to a junkyard. Many times somebody new somebody that had factory parts in their garage because they swapped out the original manifold, carb, or rear end for a piece that they thought would be cool to run. That's just what happened back then, as is still in effect with the modified guys.
I'm very lucky to have found a 68 RS SS 350 4spd with the original (but rebuilt w/more HP) engine and drivetrain. I also have aftermarket wheels on the car and that's the way I like it. I really like looking at the all original, unrestored cars at shows. But, I equally enjoy talking and hanging out with people that have Camaros, like mine.
I did the all stock, all original equipment for many years with other clubs. I deeply respect the effort and money put into the stock class cars. However, when applied to the muscle car era, you have to give us a break and also consider the reality of the times back then. I'd guess that way less than 10% of all muscle cars survived to today with their original equipment. (my original M21 was blown and replaced with another)

General Discussion / Re: L48'S WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE

Thank you Marty for the posting. The 1st pic was taken by the guy selling the car and the others by me. I was told that the original owner took the car off the road and used it as a weekend drag racer back in the late 70's - 80's. He raced mostly in central Jersey (Engishtown Raceway Park) and Atco in south Jersey. Since the interior seats were remove back then the build sheet was pobably ruined or lost. It still has the original carpet and front seat belts. Oh yeah, and what is left of the welded on tow bar plates under the front frame. I believe the console and gauge package w/327 tach was added by the seller and is not original. Anyone have an opinion on the chambered exhaust? It sounds like the side exhaust on a SB Vette. I'm thinking that I would rather have the lower tone stainless system with headers. What do you think?  I have done the all original thing for a long time with many shows cars my Dad and I built and collected through the years. I'm in my early 60's now and wanted a car that I can criuse with. This is it! Ray.

Here is a partial email I sent to Kurt a few months ago. It's my 68 rs/SS 350 4spd. Original trans was blown so no number. It now has an AutoGear M-21 replacement trans. Car is now black no stripes w/black interior. Besides the fresh paint only the seats and door panels are new replacements. The original rebuilt 350 has Offy/2-jet tri power and Mallory ignition and chambered exhaust. I also sent Kurt and Ed pics of the car.
Thanks for all you do. Ray

Restoration / Flat black/gray used on hood stacks and tail lights
« on: July 04, 2011, 12:21:07 PM »
Hi guys and happy Fourth of July!

My car is a Norwood '68 SS/rs 01A

I noticed the topic about the Krylon paint below. So I'd like to ask about the flat black, or is it gray (?), paint used to trim out the hood stacks and the tail lights. My car was repainted black (original VV) but the original hood stacks and tail lights were not touched up. I searched around and found flat black rattle cans but I'm unsure about the color and shade.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

General Discussion / Re: Need help on worth of 68 Camaro
« on: February 13, 2010, 08:04:47 PM »
No doubt the seller want's big money for this car. It's nice, even if modified.

My 68 RS/SS 350 4spd, is similar in that the engine is pushing 400hp, and I have 17" AR SS wheels on it, but all the rest is stock.

At first glance you should take notice that it has the standard interior but the seats are not correct. The gauges have been changed (maybe for the better, my stock gauges are flakey at best), There are no emblems on the exterior; Camaro, SS, or 396. The car has the window mouldings but no roof drip rail moulding or lower body moulding and fender well moulidings. I thought those all came in a one package? One big item is the missing SS hood. Although the hood on it is nice, it's wrong.

Be careful and check closely. This car may not be a RS/SS. It may be a low end Camaro built to look great which it does.

So ya see it's a matter of taste. The car is nice, just not correct for the pure stock guys.
