General Discussion / 4-Speed Shifter Rod Identification Needed

I have a 16 1/2" long shifter rod (0.47" diameter) without a 4-digit number that I have been researching without any luck. It appears to be a 3-4 shifter rod and might be for a 1967 or 1968 Camaro, Nova, or Chevelle. As shown in my drawing it has 3 angle points with angles of approximately 165, 168, and 169 degrees.
It might or might not be GM 3895255, 3930053, 3899024, 3930073, 3913714, 3930065, or maybe some other GM part number. It seems the 4-digit stampings started with the 1969 models. I bought the shifter rod at a swap meet decades ago with the 3895244 swivel and 2 3841497 nuts.

I never noticed UPC C50, Sheet A2, in my 1968 Camaro Assembly Manual. The j-bolt is listed as GM # 3823275.

BTW,
I just noticed that the 488243 J-bolt is also listed in the top parts of Gr. 7.632 in my 1974 Chevrolet Parts Catalog (July 1974) along with a description:
73-74 Pass. (exc. Sta. Wag.)
73-74 Nova (2 Dr.)(exc. Hatchback)
73-75 Chevelle (exc. El Camino)
It has the following description: "clamp (5/16"-18 X 7" O.L.).

The does not agree with the Oldsmobile Obsolete site for the NOS 488243 J-bolt which list it at 5/16"-18 X 6" O.L.

My 1973 Pontic Parts Catalog (Nov. 1972) lists GM # 488243 for "71-73 All F" (Firebirds) and "BOLT (w/space saver tire)(7 1/2" long)".
I tend to believe the parts catalogs.

Chevrolet always seems to try to have various parts made by 2 or more different manufacturers to prevent part shortages on the assembly line and to keep costs in check.
Attached are 3 photos of 3/4" hex lug wrenches that I have in my lug wrench collection with the letter "E" forged on the lug head. The one in the top photo was removed from a 1969 Camaro with the jack shaft dated "9A" (Jan. 1969) on the rivet head, the 1969 hook, and "U69" jack base  but I always assumed it was not original because of the shape. I might be right or I might be wrong about that. I never paid much attention to the lug wrenches with the letter "E".  The "E" lug wrenches are very similar to my NOS 14036400 lug wrench with the letter "O" as shown in photo #4 which was first sold over the counter about 1981 ($5.85 list in my Dec. 1981 Chevrolet Price Schedule).
Not many restorers pay much attention to having the original lug wrench for their vintage car.
I would appreciate any comments about these 3 "E" lug wrenches.

Attached in the 1st photo is what I believe to be a 1967-1968 Camaro Spare Tire J-bolt that I purchased at a swap meet decades ago based on what I have seen in this "Spare Tire J Hook & Wing Nut" thread.
The overall length measures 7 3/8" long. My question is it for the Coupe or the Convertible?.

The 1967 & 1968 Camaro Assembly Manuals list the J-Bolt part number as 3916608 on UPC 10, Sheet A2 for the COUPE models.  The REVISION RECORD in the 1967 Camaro Assembly Manual shows that on 11-29-66 "3916608 WAS 3893897".  My 1967 Corvair-Chevy II- Chevelle-Camaro Parts Catalog (Oct. 1966) lists GM # 3893897 in Gr. 7.632 as the Wheel Carrier Clamp BOLT for "67 CAMARO (CPE.)".  My 1968 Corvair-Chevy II- Chevelle-Camaro Parts Catalog (July 1968) lists GM # 3893897 in Gr. 7.632 as the Wheel Carrier Clamp BOLT for "67-68 CAMARO (SPT. CPE.)".

Oldsmobile Obsolete has a NOS 488243 J-bolt and it is listed as 5/16"-18 X 6" O.L. as shown in the 2nd photo. My 1974 Chevrolet Parts Catalog (July 1974) lists GM # 488243 as the Wheel Carrier BOLT for the 74 Camaro (exc. space saver site).

Does anyone has a photo and dimension of a 3841841 or 3929975 J-Bolt for the 67 & 68 convertible models?

Attached are 3 photos and my drawing of a 1969 Camaro Coupe J-Bolt & Wingnut, GM # 3949607 & GM # 9785616. The wing nut has 8 "dimples" on the bottom side. This was with a 1969 Camaro bumper jack, 32 1/4"long, stamped "UN" on the jacking mechanism, and dated "9A" (1969, Jan.) on the rivet head that I bought at a salvage yard in Pepperell, MA back in the 1990's. I have many other J-bolts that I am doing research on.

Ed, I read the thread.
I have been collecting and studying Chevrolet 3/4" hex lug wrenches from 1960's and 1970's models since the 1990's for the purpose of finding the correct lug wrench for my 1970 Camaro SS350 long term project.  I have still have about 40 or 50 still in my collection with various markings ("O", "E", "U") and some without any markings. Their dimensions varies along with the angle bend. I sold my NOS 3909176 lug wrenches after I determined that they were not correct for the 1970. Attached are photos of some of my lug wrenches with the "O" marking. I always thought that the letter "O" was for Otterburn but do not remember where I got that information. Apparently the letter "O" is  for the Herbert E. Orr Company. I have been researching 63-67 Corvette and 67-73 Camaro parts for 4 decades and it seems that I still learn something new every day.

Originality / Original 1967-1969 Camaro lug wrench question

Attached is a photo of a lug wrench from a 1969 Nova as well as 2 photos of my other identical lug wrenches which are all 99% identical to a pair of NOS 3909176 lug wrenches that I once owned. All 3 lug wrenches have the letter "O" on the lug head.  GM # 3909176 is listed in my 1967, 1968, and 1969 Chevrolet Parts Catalogs in Gr. 8.821 as the part number for the lug wrench for All 1967-1969 models. I believe that the 3909176 lug wrench was issued on the assembly line for 1967-1969 models as well as sold over the counter. These lug wrenches have a unique curves chisel end as shown in photo #3. The 1967-1969 Camaro Assembly Manuals do not list a part number for the lug wrench but rather a part number for the WRENCH CHART which is 3899546 (UPC 10 Sheet A2).
As per Chevrolet Parts History (for service parts) GM # 3909176 was replaced by GM # 3987070 in Dec. 1971.
Can anyone who owns a 1967-1969 Camaro with the original lug wrench confirm this?

Originality / LH Upper Spark Plug Wire SUPPORT Comparison - 1969 & 1970

Attached in the 3 photos are 3 LH Upper Spark Plug Wire Supports. According to my research as well as using my 1969 and 1970 Chevrolet Parts Catalogs (Oct. 1968 & Jan. 1970) I have determined the following:
1.  The support on the left is GM # 3932485 listed for 69 ALL (302, 307,350).  This support has 3 different angle bends with a 0.80" diameter hole and I believe that this support was only used on the 1969 Z28.
2.  The support in the middle is GM # 3932487 and is also listed as 69 ALL (302, 307. 350). This support has only one angle bend with a 0.80" diameter hole and I believe that it was not used on the 1969 Z28.
3.  The support of the right is GM # 3973366 and is listed as 70* ALL (8 cyl.)(exc. 454) . This support has only one angle bend with a 0.92" X 0.78" oval hole. The asterisk (*) following the year indicates a new 1970 model part.  This support is also used on 1971-1973 models as listed in my 1971, 1972, and 1973 Chevrolet parts catalog.

According to GM Parts History (for service parts sold over the counter) GM # 3932487 was replaced by GM # 3973366 in June 1974. This makes sense as the two parts are almost identical except for the shape of the hole.

I would appreciate any comments to either confirm my research or not.

After researching Camaro jacks for many years I have found that the Camaros made in Van Nuys were issued jacks made by the the Walker Manufacturing Co. ("square" type post with date code stamped near the top of the post). Sometimes these jacks did not have the date code.

The Norwood Camaros were issued jacks made by the Universal Tool Co. ("keystone" type post stamped "UN" on the up-down lever and with date code on the rivet head). The date coding on these jacks started in "early" 1967, not the Fall of 1966.

I also have seen 67-69 Camaro "keystone" jacks made by "RH INC." but not that often with the date code near the bottom end of the post near the seam. These RH INC. "keystone" posts will NOT fit in a UN "keystone" base.

There is a lot about 70 Camaro jacks (both types) on the NastyZ28 website.

The GM part number for the air cleaner assembly is 6484584 (69 Camaro & Chevy II w/350 4BC w/A.T.) as per my 1969 Corvair-Chevy II-Chevelle-Camaro Parts Catalog (Oct. 1968). The M.T. air cleaner is part number 6484583 for the same model. If you find one at a swap meet there should be a white sticker on the side of the base with the part number but most of the time this sticker is long gone. I have 3 original 1970 Camaro SS350 air cleaner assemblies (GM # 6485242) as well as an original 6485240 air cleaner (1970 Chevelle w/350 4BC), all have the white stickers with the part number.

I have been recently researching the correct spark plug wire LH rear SUPPORT for my 70 Camaro SS350 long term project and found that most 1970 Camaro models were issued the support (marked "#5" with the oval hole) on the far right on my photo below. The support (2nd from the right marked "1970" and "#4" with the round hole) is identical to one on an original 70 Z28 w/1,100 miles.

I believe the one marked "#3" is for a 69 Z28.

I have what I believe is a 69 AC fuel pump. It has what appears to be "HH40669" stamped on the mounting flange of the pump. Can anyone decode this?

I believe your "HH40669" AC fuel pump is dated August (the 1st "H") 1968 (the 2nd "H"). I have done a lot of research about AC fuel pumps during the last 20 years. It all started years ago when I found a 1966 Chevrolet 327 engine ("T0521HAR", May 21, 1966 with roch. 4bbl.) in a junk yard which had all of it's original components (carb, starter, distributor, fuel pump, etc.) according to the stamped part numbers and date codes.  I decoded the "4657EF" fuel pump to be May ("E") 1966 ("F").
My fuel pump date code theory is as follows:
The first letter is the month, A=Jan, "B"=Feb. ...........................L=Dec. (the letter "I" was used).
The second letter is the year, E=1965, F=1966, G=1967, H=1969.
NOTE: The AC pumps made in 1964 and prior do not have the 2 letter. I have an AC pump stamped only "4657" from a 1964.
Sometime in the early 1970's the date code changed to 3 numbers (the day of the year) and one letter (the year). I am still working ion this code.
