Originality / Re: Triple A Window sticker
« on: January 21, 2017, 01:25:46 PM »
Can someone provide the dimensions (H"xW") of the original window sticker?  Triple-A's version seems to be too larger 8"x11"

Restoration / Rocker Studs on 1969 Z.28 Heads
« on: December 19, 2015, 02:21:13 AM »
186 Heads - Were all the rocker studs 'pressed in' during the 1969 302 production year or did the Flint engine plant switch to a 'screw in' style stud, with push rod guides,  at some point during the production year?

Originality / Can one determine if a VN built Z/28 is real?
« on: December 10, 2015, 01:00:28 AM »
I have a restored 1969 Z/28 built in Van Nuys.  This vehicle does not have it's original engine or trans. but they are date correct with lots of reproduction parts.  Since LA didn't use X-codes on the cowl tag is there any way determine if this vehicle was actually born as a Z/28? is there any uniqueness to a Z/28 with it's body beyond the obvious i.e. front disc brakes, exhaust hanger pad, etc?

1969 - Orphans / Re: 9L526220 - Z/28 Engine
« on: December 06, 2015, 06:33:07 PM »
Paul - just came across your posting of this engine being for sale on eBay 4 years ago.  Curiously this engine is now in my 1969 Z/28.  My knowledge of the engine is it was purchased by someone near Houston, TX for his 1968 Z/28, he sold it to someone in MO. where it was rebuilt and placed in the vehicle I own. The older Ebay links above does not display any photos so I requested them from the seller....hopefully he responds.  Great info for my vehicle history file.

I do believe the VIN's were issued in sequence.
March 26 was a Wednesday and I believe my vehicle was the 268th vehicle made that day, so yours could have followed later that day or later in the week.

Thanks Len - your dimensions confirms Jerry's and what I generally see out there.  Still wonder why the AIM has such a discrepancy.
Thanks again

Gary W - any photo's would be greatly appreciated.  It seems all the vehicles I currently see painted with Rallye stripes have a gap distance = pin stripe width.

Restoration / 1969 Z/28 Stripe Widths and Gaps?
« on: December 05, 2015, 04:02:36 PM »
This question may have been addressed in an older thread but I can not located it, so I need to ask again.

Looking at the AIM for 1969, pages 474 & 475 indicates that the outer (pin) stripe, Z28 option, is .25 inch wide and has a .38 inch gap between the pin and larger rallye stripe.

However, in Jerry MacNiesh's 1969 Camaro Z/28 fact book (2nd Edition, page 74), Jerry states that both the pin stripe width and gap width are equal at 9/32 (.28125) inches.

Questions:
 - which is correct?
 - did the Norwood and Van Nuys plants have different paint standards for these stripes?
 - did Fisher body or Chevrolet perform the painting process?

I have a 1969 Z/28 with a non-factory D80 rear spoiler installed.  I have purchased the larger diameter torsion rod but have no idea the best or easiest way to remove the existing rod(s) or install the new rod.  Can someone describe the process and possibly include photos?
