General Discussion / Re: Need help on worth of 68 Camaro
« on: February 10, 2010, 05:49:26 AM »
I thought I'd seen this car.  This car was on ebay item # 160396520376, only had one bid for $27,500.  That's a pretty high first bid. Didn't meet the reserve.  Nice car, but  I agree, it's just another nice custom camaro.  Hadn't been on ebay for a gm couple of days...how about the 68 RS Z/28 w/ GM headers for $159,000... J.M. certified ?  Just like mine except for vinyl top, gauges and of course headers.

General Discussion / Re: Unrestored 1967 RS

I prefer original...but when the dents and rust have to be fixed...you have to paint. My 68 Z/28 RS is a 42,000 mile survivor, the sequoia green paint is long gone, but the white stripes still look good.  It has a couple of small dents but no rust.  I've noticed  people like to look at all the original things just as much as they do the new stuff.  I think you can paint a solid car and it looks good, but if you've ever looked at the stripes on a survivor Z, I do not think many painters will take the time or have the knowledge to recreate all the little things I see in my stripes.  PS I'm a newbie and this is just my opinion so don't beat up on me!!! Like they say, "it's only original once"!

Bought my 68 RS/Z  03/03/70. I traded in a 65 Impala 327 4spd. SS plus $1370 at Reliable Chevrolet in Springfield, Mo.  I was cruising with a friend in his 68 SS 396/350/4spd. Camaro...we saw the car. I wasn't a fan  of the 69 yet and I thought it was 69, he said it was a 68, I put $50 down in 10 minutes.  I had just passed on a 68 375 Hp. Camaro...because it didn't have the rect.. heads.  All the mags implied it was outdated.  I had also just passed on a 69 SS chevelle 375 Hp. and a 67 427 Vette..I didn't know what it was, did I mention it was a radio/heater delete car...sitting on a used car lot!!!  I  was going to college then and use to watch another student drive a 427 Cobra to school every day.  My 68 Z is an all original survivor.
