I was at this show I looked at that camaro over in town on saturday , after hearing about this I did some internet searching and this is very common hotels , 3am , cars gone , the stole another 69 camaro from the big streetrod show in louisville ky , I have went to somerset for the past 3 years once a month but unless I can figure something out I am not going back or to any shows where you have to stay in a hotel , I have thought about this a lot the problem is our cars are worth so much money in parts , and the other thing in my opinion is these theives are not teenagers that just decided to steal a car they plan it and follow the car show schedule , I bet they dont start the cars I bet they hook up to them and drive away , its ashame and as said above I would love to see them caught ! the thieves that stole the 69  camaros from somerset and louisville are probly one in the same , same MO stole the same kind of car and both were 3am from a hotel , I hope they are  caught

as far as dependable NOTHING V8 EXIST'S THAT WOULD BE ANY MORE DEPENDABLE THAN A 327 210 !
more power YES but a 327 210 is as reliable as the sun set ! just tune it keep the point's dwell right AND DRIVE IT !
I have a similar car mine has the 327 210 and 2spd power glide I reringed the engine 10 year's ago and have drove it since ,
nice car you have there VERY NICE !
my advice is as follow's
#1 fix EVERYTHING , brake's , hose's , change all the fluid's , fix any bad leak's , make everything work good
#2 CLEAN ER UP !
#3 ENJOY IT that car will draw a crowd at any cruz night you take it out to ,

« on: June 29, 2010, 07:47:50 PM »
I read a couple other thing's around the net and I think that WARD USA was the main maufacturer for antenna bezel's and nut's for the 60's , I think an item like this saying WARD is saying ORIGINAL !

I am not into the whole car show judge thing I just like correct STOCK stuff , as far as looking at this belt it LOOK IDENTICAL to the IRVING original's if you did not turn it over and read the tag you would not be able to tell , I like it BECAUSE IT'S 40 YEAR'S OLD AND STILL NEW !!! on the lookout for another ,,,,,,

Restoration / NOS over the counter GM seat belt question ?
« on: June 22, 2010, 10:09:18 AM »
??? when someone went to the dealer to buy new replacement seat belt's would they have been by the correct manufacturer like say IRVING for camaro's ?
or did they let other manufacturer's make replacement part's ?? the reason I ask is because I recently found a BEAUTIFULL ! NOS lap belt for my 67 in the correct blue in it's original GM box it measure's out EXACT as the length on this site say's it should , but it's made by ROBBIN'S ? my car is a october 66 build and had no retractor's so belt's for it in good shape are RARE and finding an NOS belt was UNBELIEVABLE !
just wondered about that ,,,

Jerry , I sold those white crank's and do not have any more white one's , I have some good used black one's for sale ,,,

Mark , you have it right there , the one's listed as CUSTOM TRIM mean's deluxe interior and are casting 9702932 , the one's listed without the CUSTOM TRIM are casting 5719477 , so if you look at the part number's you see that GM intended for the 970's to go in the front , car's with std interior got all 4 5719477's , and I have a black knob NOS GM crank that is part #7680654 and the casting # is 9702932 , here is pic's of it and the part # on the box ,

in this part number list I found for firebird (SAME AS CAMARO ON THIS) it list's these part #'s as DOOR HANDLES

Decoding/Numbers / engine build date vs. car build date
« on: February 07, 2010, 02:48:33 PM »
I was looking at the date's on my car and it's engine part's and notice that the date's are REAL CLOSE !

my engine is dated V1028me which is october 28th 1966 I looked it up and that is on friday

the build date on the car is 10E 5th week of october 1966 last day in october was monday the 31st

they must have been spitting them out as fast as they could make them for those number's to be that close

what is the normall documented time for a engine date vs car build date ?

« on: February 07, 2010, 12:46:21 AM »
I have had family crisis come up to and almost sold my car BUT got to thinking about it and the sale of the car won't help anything ! the money will be gone within a short time after you sell the car then your back in the same boat you were in to start with , KEEP YOUR CAR ,,,,,,,,not only that but this is THE WORST TIME to sell a car ,
