Research Topics & Reports / Re: Gas tank date codes
« on: July 10, 2009, 06:10:58 PM »
Found mine right where John Z. said, front corner, drivers side.
The date appears to be 2 4 69 with the 4 stamped upside down. Anyways the car is 06A build.

I was looking through the info again and there appears to be a discrepency with  '06A  24 69'

I think it would fall in line with the other dates we are seeing if you consider the 2 being upside down instead of the 4. Then it would read 69 42 and fit with the rest of the data. After all 69 is the same either way you look at it. ;)
That's my tank and I was wondering the same thing.

I have an x77 car, no mark on  rear bulkhead. Does anyone have a car with out mark behind seat? BTW I am pretty sure it's real, I've posted tag on here before.

Just on a quick search on Yahoo, the business listed below has the same name and is about 40 miles from Mt Clemens. You could give it a try and see if it is any help.

Modern Motor Service Inc
3292 Lapeer Rd
Port Huron, MI 48060 Map

(810) 985-8196
  Thanks!!

The car's current owner is me. The only info I have on Modern Motor Service is an old phone #, no address.
I talked to a guy who bought the car at 16 in partnership with his brother in Toledo, Ohio in 1978. (wonder how that worked out)? Neither he nor his brother can remember who they bought it from, only that is was a private individual and "you couldn't shift it fast enough" It had a set of 4.88's in it!

Thanks for the lead. I'll post again if anything comes of it.

General Discussion / looking for past owners

Anyone ever heard of this place?

Last summer I bought a '69 Z28, original motor and trans long gone but with a very old key chain advertising Modern Motor Service 463-1952 Mt. Clemens Mi.?
  No luck calling #.
I have talked to previous owners back to 1978. None of them lived in Mt. Clemens but I have to believe SOMEONE who used to own this car DID!
If you remember this place or A black Z28 tearing up the neighborhood I would love to hear from you.
  Thanks in advance,
  Mike

I would like mine decoded too. http://i325.photobucket.com/albums/k391/TEAMDILLON/IMG_0003_1.jpg  I can understand the POM29A and I assume the 10w123986 is the vin from original car but what does the CT9 and the A41373 mean?

sixt9, How did you get those up? The reducer is going slow and I'm afraid to rub too hard. Thought maybe they just deteriorated after all these years
