You guy's are definitly right about the welds on the rearend. The same thing happened to my brothers 68 RS/SS back in the day.He drove it hard from what I remember.I was just a kid and I remember him having to weld it back up.Luckily he didnt wreck it when it let go.Now that I have the car I'm definitly going to check it out while the rearend is out of the car.

Your right about the hard too see areas.I'm in the process of restoring my car and it sure helps by looking at what I'm getting into.My car isnt as bad as some of these.
I dont know if you seen the car that was what appeared to be completely rusted from it's suspension.I mean this car looked like it had been parked in a lake. It's a 69 Pro Touring (Howard Stalls album 1). :(
Did you also notice that he sells whole car GM bodies with clear valid titles? These are not the ones that are new stamped from Dynacorn.I wished I could take a tour of that place it would be like being in a candy store. These guy's are true artist's. :)

General Discussion / Re: Tic-Toc Tach redline question
« on: May 24, 2007, 05:33:39 AM »
Hey thanks to everyone who replied to my question.Going by the chart from the link left by Lakeholme,it looks like my car is the 350hp because of the m21 in it.
The car was bought in 1973 by my brother.Whoever owned it had decided to take out the 396 and repalce it with a 327 from a 65 Corvette. The M21 and the 12 bolt were left in the car.My guess was being 1973  that maybe the gas shortage then was what was this persons reason for doing this swap.I dont know I was only 4 yrs old .He also removed the bumble bee stripe and made it all black with wire hubcaps and spinners on them that said SS.Those puppies are long gone.My brother had Crager SS with N50's.That's how I remember it.

General Discussion / Tic-Toc Tach redline question
« on: May 23, 2007, 07:14:55 PM »
Does anyone know what engines the differnet redlines on the tach were for?For example I think the 6,000 redline was for either the 302 sb and the 396/375hp(solid lifter cars). But what I cant figure out is the 5,000 and the 5,500 redline. What engines were they used for?My car has the 5,500 and it is a 68 RS/SS 396 car but I'm not sure which one.I think it's the 350hp one. ???  :-\

Did yours have multi-leaf springs or a 12 bolt?Does it have the original hood with the grills in it?Does it have  a tic-toc tach?Big block cars have different motor mount brkts. One is taller than the other on bb cars. There is a brake proportioning valve  under the driver-side subframe for bb cars or A/C cars.Even the hood light in the engine bay is further to the outside on bb.Does yours have any srtipes on it?I had to look between the header panel and fender to find the original stripe for my 68 RS/SS.It was solid black when my brother purchased it in 1973.So I had to look to see if it was the D90 OR D91 stripe. If I can think of aything else I will post it,and good luck with your car too.

General Discussion / Re: Found Camaros, Not For Sale...

I got one for you.Back in 1985 wen I turned 16 I wanted to buy a first gen Camaro.I knew of one but he of course would not sell.So I settled for a 1966 El Camino with a 283 w/3 on the tree.I had alot of fun with that car.I also learned how to work on it too.Years later (1993)I decided to try again with the Camaro still no luck.I ended up buying a 1967 Camaro coupe a 350/PG,A/C,PS and PB.I went through that car rebuilding the engine and repainting it Black.Ok so here's the good part. Now (2005)I'm married with kids everything is great till one night I get this call about the Camaro I wanted when I was 16.Turns out the guy needs to get rid of it because he's moving. The best part is the guy I'm talking about is my brother. He gave me the car after having it since 1973.I now am in the process of restoring the car.It is a 68 RS/SS 396,4 sp,3:73 12 bolt car. There is no way this car will ever leave my possesion.I have many memories in this car riding around all over town.Isn't life great.
