General Discussion / Re: repop parts

Whatever the cause of the mess is, looks like we are going to be in it for a while. For more than just car parts too.

I would guess this unit is a good deal or correct for your needs or I would find one closer.

I think those numbers might work once someone gets it on a pallet and either can load it or take it to a freight terminal.

You can pickup used pallets for free in NC at most businesses that receive freight. A long one might be harder to find but you could make one out of 2 standard pallets. If you can,t find any PM me if you are near Durham I probably have some.

General Discussion / repop parts

Just a heads up, parts seem to be running out. Tried to get some firebird seat covers in black no less, guys saying no materials, no help. Friend looking midyear vette stuff same answer. If you are on a project might want to order ahead if they have your part.

My guess is probably 80 grit sandpaper. Done by hand since they worked around the dum dum.

Although I am guilty of it and that is how I know, up front deposits and charging materials on your credit card sends bad vibes to me. A real business should have something called capital to finance their operations.  A roofer told me a couple years ago he needed to put materials on my credit card. The app or site looked funny to me but I did it. I can give someone my lawyers name if needed.

Restoration / Re: Looking for clutch adjustment problem help

I think you said your clutch fork was new but I have had one that had a crack that was not noticible but let the fork flex under pressure. I believe we could see it through the dust boot hole. Try the stop first.

I would have someone work the pedal while you watch the movement of the clutch fork. Even new parts have problems. There are different cross bars that look the same until you compare them, that is what I would suspect first. The length of the bars off the round part could be wrong affecting the travel.

I would pull the trans. Could be pilot bushing, release bearing, transmission, or you could luck up  and the transmission bolts be loose. Have you checked the trans oil level?

Those wheels came in those finishes. I can,t remember if it was a time period difference or a selection but it is factory.

if you painted the aluminum engine parts and the radiator it would almost look original. I have been working with the original AC on my triple black pontiac Trans AM (aka HOT) and vintage air starts looking better every 95 degree day. Saving original parts is a plus as the next owner can put them back.

Restoration / Re: Restoration Shops - Body and Paint in Maryland
« on: August 16, 2021, 12:34:25 PM »
The last car I had done the shop had it media blasted and then revised their estimate. More rust appeared after the blasting and we were able get a better parts list and time estimate. The shops owner recently retired so I really don,t have anyone to recommend. Good luck.
