Was the m-22 an option only for solid lifter motors? The reason that I ask is that there is  a 396/350 horse car here localy that the owner claims is a m-22 car and i think that i read in chevrolet by the numbers that it was  only for Z/28 and L78 cars.

General Discussion / Re: White paint on 68 cowl tag
« on: February 04, 2011, 06:57:37 AM »
I looked at the rear end and found the following, casting# 3894860 NF,date I 15 7,stamping BS 09 18 G2 E.The tach is faded and it looks like there was a sticker on the top that has fallen off,the printed circuit has an ink stamp on it that does'nt look like a date to me.I don't see anything that makes me think that the tach has been changed,I wish the printed circuit had a date that could prove something to me,if someone else knows how to read it I'll post the info later for them. The gauge housing matches the rest of the interior for color and patina and the harness is a factory one not a conversion one.Is there anything else to look for?So back to the original question, does anyone know why the white paint was on the firewall ?

More info on the car,09C build date,PNT A2,Tr 719,BDY 68-12467NOR11365,VIN 124678N311787.The car is in bad but saveable condition, has P/S,P/T,P/W,gauges,tilt,correctly dated 4 bolt 323 block 069 intake, and high red line tach.Missing heads carb, pulleys, ect.I know that it looks like it could be an L 78 but who knows? It's been off the road and taken apart for 20+ years.I don't know what the white paint is about,I've heard about it on 67's before but have never been told why it was done,I have mainly owned 69's in the past so I know very little about 67 and 68 cars but would like to learn more about them.Thank you,Andy.

Can anyone tell me why the cowl tag and surrounding firewall area on my 1968 is painted white? it looks like it was built like this, not painted later. It is a Sept.built black convertible SS if it matters.

The same clip is used on 67 to 72 pickup's to hold the rear body harness to the frame under the box.

Research Topics & Reports / Re: 69 decklid emblem holes
« on: April 21, 2008, 01:46:43 AM »
Kurt,I know that the accepted stripe layout stops under the spoiler but this cars stripes go to the edge of the decklid. The car got hit very hard in the mid 70's and has been off the road since. The car still has it's original Lemans blue on it.The stripes are the narrow 68 style with a notch in the right stripe for the C in the Camaro emblem. All of the spoiler mounting holes look like they were done at the factory and the tension rods are the correct size, and they have blue overspray on them.If you look at the bottom side of the decklid you can see that the paint on the lower set of emblem holes is not scratched from the emblem nuts so I feel that this rules out a stripe delete car that may have had the stripes added at a later date.

I have a 10 A 68 LA Z/28 that is a factory spoiler car and it has both sets of emblem holes, the stripes are the narrow 68 style and they go all the way to the edge of the decklid, witch is still original paint.
