Mild Modifications / Re: Has anyone tried this?

John,

I just got done installing a new GM crate motor in my '69.  The HEI is too big for the firewall without modification.  I used an MSD Ready-To-Run Street Pro-Billet from Jeg's (121-8360).  This is the 2nd one I have purchased (two different cars  :)) and have had no problems whatsoever with lots of clearance.  Hope this helps.   8)

Originality / SS Tail Lights
« on: December 30, 2006, 11:54:16 PM »
Many so-called "SS" cars do not have the SS tail light lenses with the horizontal chrome bar in the center all the way across the lens.  Did all original SS cars have these lenses?  Also I have seen some SS cars with the area around the lenses painted flat black.  Was this factory original, or somebody's idea to be different?  Thanks.   :-\

Mild Modifications / X-Pipe Exhaust
« on: December 29, 2006, 05:26:57 AM »
I have heard good things about increased HP, more torque, and less internal resonance by using an x-pipe in the exhaust system.  Does anyone have any experience with this setup?  Also, any opinions on 70 Series Flowmaster or Edelbrock SDT mufflers would be appreciated.  Thanks.

General Discussion / Front Spoiler
« on: December 23, 2006, 06:48:09 PM »
Most of the 69 Camaros I have seen have a front (and rear) spoiler.  Does the front spoiler have any real functional value for cooling or handling, or it is simply for aesthetic value?  Thanks.   :)

Mild Modifications / 700R4 Conversion in a '69 SS
« on: October 30, 2006, 01:47:06 AM »
I am replacing the original PG in my '69 SS with a 700R4.  I have most of the parts and information, but I need help in findiing the kick-down lilnkage and cooler lines.  Do I have to have them made up special, or does anyone know if they can be purchased complete.  Any addiitional information would be greately appreciated.  I have requested a copy of a Chevy article from Steve I read about on this forum.

Thanks much.

Gary
