Mine has two holes on the finger grip side of the wheel.  One seems to have an "O" stamped into it.  Does this mean anything?  How would you tell if it is original?

Mild Modifications / Re: rear seat belts
« on: November 05, 2007, 07:08:31 AM »
My daughter in in a booster.  I bounght a belt and bolted it through the trunk divider, (I have a vert and did not want to ever risk an ejection).  I drilled the hole, and sandwiched it wilt two very large and thick washers.  It works fine - although I have never had to test it.  They do make a car seat designed to utilize only a lap belt.  The car seat has shoulder harnesses for both shoulders.  It is designed for very large children - up to 100 lbs.  I bought one at the local baby store for $100...about the same for a deluxe belt.  The only problem is that they are so large, (the seat).  So big my daughter had to be in the middle of the back seat...otherwise her feet were pinched between the front seat and her car seat.

The shoulder harness I have now comes perfectly over her shoulder...she is about 42".

One word of caution...your child will grow.  So where ever you drill today to mount a belt will not fit your child in  6mos to a year.  nothing worse than drilling a hole every 6 months....

Kurt:
Sure is a VN car.  I believe you have my info on file:
ST  69  12467      VN238117   BDY
TR   718      50   A   PNT
01D         S532

Was this typical of a VN car?

What I found interesting - the driver door glass is the only 69 dated glass.  And as the CRG site says - it does have the DOT -15 markings, (while the others do not).

Email me if CRG wants original Door and Quarter glass numbers for a 69.

I must have missed one writing it down.  The guy said he will email me the photo of the CT.  I am more interested in the appearance of the Cowl Tag....interesting with the missing centers of the rivets....the tag was also pretty clean for its age and the condition of the rest of the car.  I will post if and when he emails me.

Decoding/Numbers / New tag for registry

looked at a Pace car today...just wondering if it is in the data base. Currently located in Lakewood, CO was in Missouri from at least 1986 - till 2006.

One question....where the rivets are on the cowl tag seem to have been drilled. The collar of the rivets are there, but the centers are missing. You can see through the firewall where the rivet centers are suppose to be filled in. Anything questionable here?

Additional info on the car:

Non-matching 350.
Tilt wheel
No gauge cluster on console
no clock
badged 350
car is a low 4 or possible 3 high 3, (was parked in a "barn" since 1986)
Proportion valve is on frame rail under driver side door
No tag on radiator
Multi - leaf rear - 10 bolt
Cowl induction flapper system missing
Missing lower reverse lights, (might have new sheet metal there - pretty rusty)

Maintenance / Re: Ignition Problem

Thanks guys.  I will have to drop it off on Monday.  I will have him start with the ignition switch and then move from there.  Thanks for all help.

I was told by a reputable electrician that it could not be the  ignition switch.  If it was the battery would slowly drain over the course of a day - due to the fact that the car would be "on" because of a faulty switch.

Decoding/Numbers / Axle Assembly Stamp

Looking to see where this axle came from...the stamp looks like JA G0422.  Anybody have any idea here?  This is a 10 bolt, I am pretty sure not original to this 69 and the differential housing has square corners to it.

Maintenance / Ignition Problem

Any help is appreciated!  I took my 69 for a drive today, got home and the car would not turn off.  Electrical is not my specialty.  The only way I could turn off the car was to pull the coil.  Anybody have this happen?  Any ideas on what I can do, (or what the cause is), besides running it down to the local machanic?
