Getting ready to clean up the distribution block on my '69 manual drum car.

What is this part's finished surface?   60% gloss black?  Sandblast and clear coat?   other?

I picked up these 14x7 JJ wheels years ago at a swap meet.  Date coded 22 YJ K-1-9  3   Just recently had them blasted and powder coated to use on my '69 plane jane restoration with 4 wheel drum brakes.

I want to fit them with modern radials.

From what I can find online, F70-14 from back in the day converts to P195/75R14.  Nobody sells a raised white letter in that size.  I can get BF Goodrich T/A radials in a P215/70R14 (1.6% bigger diameter than P195/75R14) or P205/70R14 (0.8% smaller diameter than P195/75R14)

What p-metric tire size are people running to mimic stock F70-14's?

Post a picture before you do anything else! It would also be great if you could tell what sort of paint was in that rattle can...

It was black paint!

I'll try and snap a pic and get it posted.  I'm guessing it was enammel.  Remember the ad "no runs, no drips, no errors"

Decoding/Numbers / best way to clean up a cowl tag

I bought my '69 camaro back in the mid 80's.  At that time I pulled the motor to clean it up and give it some fresh paint.  While I had it out I also cleaned up the engine compartment and gave that some fresh black paint out of a rattle can.   I sprayed right over the cowl tag.

Now, 20 years later I realize this tag is very important.  I can make out most of the bigger letters and numbers, but the small print on the bottom of the tag is not legible, through all the paint I put on it. 

What is the best way to clean a cowl tag so in it can be read, yet not damage it so whenever I restore the car and paint the firewall that the tag retains it's original appearance.

Decoding/Numbers / Build sheet above gas tank, how to remove & other general info.

First off, great site!!!  I've learned a lot in the few days I've been reading through the posts.  Thanks to all who support and provide usefull info.

I understand there is a bulid sheet above the gas tank.  Can this build sheet be obtained without removeing the tank?  Can I tell if its there without moving the tank?  What can I learn from this build sheet?
