Originality / Re: 1969 Base car
« on: December 23, 2009, 02:00:02 PM »
I guess you could get a base car and add some options.  My friend traded a mustang for the Camaro and I am pretty sure it also had D80.  He eventually got rid of it because he had about 6 inches of water in the trunk after a heavy rain and it sloshed into the back seat and rear floor.    There were quite a few 69 Camaros at this dealer late in the year because of the new edition being late.  This dealer had gathrered all the 69s from many dealerships, and there was a lot of oddball colors and high dollar multi optioned cars as well as low optioned cars.

Cool.  My 69 assembly manual went with my last 69 Camaro about 5 years ago.

Back in 69 I purchased a Z/28 in August of that year.  About the same time a friend of mine purchased a base coupe.  I was trying to remember what options it came with.  My memory from 40+ years tells me that it was a 307 with a column shift.  It was daytona yellow with a vinyl roof and  black standard interior.
Other than the basic 6 cylinder, what did you get in a base car back then.
My Z was a very low option car with no tach, no console, and radio delete.  Both of us had just graduated from college and had very little money and new jobs.   They were probably the lowest priced Camaros on the lot.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: 1968 axle Stamps. a couple of questions

The unit is on the car and I had to get the numbers using a flashlight and a mirror.
I don't think I can get a picture.  The upside down P seems plausible.  It is that or a lower case b.  I originally thought the G was a C and the 2 was an S.  I went to the bare metal and It is plain as day.  I will try to get a pic using the mirror.

I did that to make sure my last Z was a 373 rear end.  I know how to do that but I just wanted to know about the codes.  This car has had 15 owners so who knows what went on with it.   I have the Canadian GM documentation so I am pretty sure this is the original 10 bolt. What is inside who knows.

I guess I should have addressed this to Kurt.  He is probably busy.

Decoding/Numbers / 1968 axle Stamps. a couple of questions
« on: August 04, 2008, 05:40:37 PM »
I am trying to ascertain what axle ratio I have in my car.  It is a 1968 Coupe that came with the L30 code and Powerglide.  I checked the axle stamp and it is as follows  B b  0102G2.   It is a ten bollt.
What I am asking is when you refer to BB code in your table you show it as BB  mine is B b with a non capital letter.  I know this possibly a siilly questions but is it the 256 rear.  Also in the chart it shows as being a posi rear end  and you show that there would be another letter on a second line.  Mine has non.
I know It could have any gear set but my feeling was that it was either a 307, 273, or 256.
I don't want to open it up because it is working just fine.  I am only trying to find out because I am looking to upgrade the cam.  It currently has a Turbo 400 and not the powerglide.
Thanks for any help.
I took another look and it is a G2 on the end not CS as I first had

Can anyone tell me when GM Started the 50,000 mi warranty program.  I know it was in effect in 69, but I was wondering when it started.
Thanks.

Originality / Re: Transmission type in Z/28 package-1969

Thanks John, I will pass that information on to my friend.  He has a 69, that has several options for a Z/28.  The trim tag is missing and it doesn't have the original motor, but it came it an M20 in the trunk and an automatic trans with the small brake pedal.  He is trying to find out if it IS actually a Z.

I was Stewie on the on the old forum when I had several 69 Zs.  I have since sold them and now own a 1968 Coupe.  I was a little irked that I was not recognized as an old forum member.  Now I am!

Thanks guys.  Is there any place on the CRG that lists the gear ratios for the different trannies.

I had a friend ask the question, "what transmissions came in the 69 Z package.   Was it possible to get an M20".  I told him I could not say but I am sure we can find out at the CRG website.  If is was available do we know how many were equipped with it?
