General Discussion / Re: Finding my Old 69 Z/28
« on: January 12, 2012, 08:55:44 PM »
I own a Daytona Yellow Z that I purchased in 79 from a buddy that purchased it in 77.  I live in Annapolis Md, not to far from WVA.   I forgot where he got it, but I will see if I can run the vin at our dmv to see where it came from.  The 302 was gone, it had a L88 in it.     The floor looks like the driveshaft busted at some point.   My email is waynemiller101@comcast.net, can you scan your pic maybe something is the same.  My car was built in FEB 69.    I am not looking to sell just chimming in since we are not that far apart.

Mine never left Day 2, I have owned it since 1979.  I bought it with an L88,  M21 488 gears!   Now it sports a BLown 502, Richmond 5 speed, Moser 35 Spline 410 12 bolt.    The Lakewood bars have always been on it, I recently installed the 3 pt rollbar (owned for 20 yrs)   I do have a DZ 302 in the garage if needed.    Day 2 for life!

I purchased my 69 Z in Nov 79for $1500, had a 427 4 spd with 4:88's.  It was painted Silver with white strips.  It had Road Hugger G70-15 and L60-15 Bias Ply on Rally's.  It is a Daytona Yellow car built 02D.  The car has 53k on it.  Has a blown 502 5 spd in it now.  I have a Dec 68 DZ shortblock and Apr 69 DZ block.  Would love to trade one for a Feb 69 block.

I have a K78 DZ short blk, it is a 3932386, and the front pad has V1I14DZ and the vin number is  19N557648.  I have had this short block for 10 yrs.  I have a 02D Z/28 that I have owned since 79'.  I wish I could find a late Jan or early Feb Block.  I also have a D109, 3956618, V0411DZ blk.  The vin on it I cannot read.

Kurt, I have owned my 69  Z for 27  yrs, the vin is 124379N613224.  It has a build date of 02D and I had the rear out of it this weekend, it date coded 12/8/68.  It also is cooded BT for 3:55.  It is the same rear that has been in the car since I have owned it.  I also have a late December DZ motor, even though it is not a numbers matching, could it be considered the correct date code?

Thanks, Wayne
