Thanks for the picture John.  Here is a picture of my setup where you can see how much my coil hits the air cleaner.  I have the stock cast iron intake and Rochester carb 4MV.  I don't have any spacer between the carb and intake.  I also have a 2 1/8" tall ring which moves the seal ring up 2 1/8".  I'll also post a better pic of just the coil bracket.

Originality / 69 ZL2 Coil Bracket: How to ID?
« on: February 25, 2006, 10:42:31 PM »
I would like to see a nice picture of the proper coil bracket for a 69 ZL2 option.  I have a SB 350, but I don't think that matters?  I would like to know what angle the coil makes with either horizontal or vertical.  I have a bracket that places the coil @ a 25 deg angle from vertical.  I think that this might be the standard bracket and not the one that I need.

Thank you,

Doug, Your picture was helpful to show the location.

This had been in the back of my mind for a while and you've helped me out :)

Wheel Codes:  I think there are a few possibilities.  XT, YJ, YA but I would guess YJ and that is what are on mine.

Restoration / Spare Tire Hold Down Conv. Need info
« on: December 22, 2005, 01:49:06 AM »
My spare tire hold down is missing on my 69 convertible.  I think I need to fabricate one from scratch.   I would like to know what it should look like as well as some dimensions and its proper location for a convertible.  I think that it is located along one of the ribs in the trunk, the rib that the D shaped body alignment hole (drain hole) intersects.  How far along the rib from the near side edge is the center of the hold down?

Thank you,

The "Cans" are called "shakers" or "cocktail shakers".  They help stiffen the body on convertibles as the roof is missing.

Intake Casting #3927184
Distributor #1111489
Exhaust #???

The assembly manual calls out for P/N "1115270 Coil Asm RPO L48 & Z28"  I don't know what the P/N's are for this assembly however.  There is some physical difference with the asm, either the coil is shorter or the bracket is at a different angle for the ZL2 option.  I do not have the correct setup for my car(:  If the bracket is different does any have a good source?

Jerry MacNeish's Book The Definitive 1969 ... does have some relavent SB stuff and is a good reference.
