Restoration / 69 camaro BB 4 speed shifter mount
« on: April 28, 2009, 03:00:19 PM »
What is special about the original BB shifter bracket VS a competition plus plate bolted to the tail shaft?  Does the stock bracket bring the shifter back left an inch because the trans got moved to the right an inch?  Or is the placement the same as the competition plus bracket?

Originality / Re: 69 camaro console oil gauge line
« on: May 28, 2008, 03:29:30 PM »
Thanks folks.  I looked at the other post.  I'm going to head to my local fitting/line assembly shop and get a steel one made.  The one in my Dad's original 72 P/U is steel, and '69 Z/28Fathom Green is confident they came that way.  I'm also taking the gauge so the right ends get put on it.

Originality / 69 camaro console oil gauge line
« on: May 27, 2008, 03:19:16 PM »
I just finished my X77, when I smelled some oil.  Discovered the oil gauge line right at the gauge managed to dump 2 quarts under the carpet.  It is a plastic line.  I ordered a new one from OPG and I bet it is plastic.  Is the original plastic, or copper , or something?  my 72 P/U has a metal line.  If it is plastic, what is the correct installation procedure to keep from screwing up the new one?

Restoration / small block to big block
« on: March 27, 2008, 01:56:28 PM »
I have a 69 Camaro with a 350 4 spd.  I want to put in a 396.  I have the new motor mount plates.  I heard that the cross member is different due to the motor being dshifted to one side to clear the steering box.  Also, I see that the shifter needs a different mounting plate.  Is this so?  Where might I find the parts?

That sure does.  I think it would look better too.

Restoration / 69 Z28 spoiler stripes

I'm in that painting phase and want to know if the stripes just come down to the front and rear edge of the spoiler?  Or do they go all the way down to that 1/4 inch space between the spoiler edges and the trunk lid?

Is the evaperator case different between small block and big block camaros?  Will the small block one fit?  How about part numbers?

Mild Modifications / Big block oil pan in a 69
« on: March 26, 2007, 09:54:34 PM »
I'm going to put a BB in my 69 camaro.  Is there a lot of different pans, or are they all generic across the chevy line?  I have a few pans lying around, and think one of the smaller ones will work.  2 of them look like they might be 6qt jobs.  May be out of a truck but don't know.  Is there a P/N stamped on these somewhere?

Restoration / emblems
« on: February 25, 2007, 05:03:56 PM »
I am restoring a 69 Z/28.  Would it be better to clean up my old, patina emblems?  Or would it be better to put on the repro jobs I have.  I am just looking for an opinion.  Something about originality is cool.  But new sure looks better.

Restoration / 69 Camaro Interior paint
« on: January 07, 2007, 07:50:45 PM »
I am ground up restoring a Fathom Green  X77 Z28.  I am going to use the Chroma base/clear system on the exterior.  Is the interior the same paint as the exterior, or was it a flatter version of the color?  Should I just do the interior in Lacquer, or enamel?

Originality / X77 dash wood grain
« on: March 31, 2006, 03:01:34 PM »
I am putting in a new dash.  I have the wood wheel and radio delete plate.  Does the wood grain belong on the lower left of the dash by the wiper switch?

What about the steering column?  I got the dash dye'd.  Looks good.

Does anyone know what the console color should be on a Fathom green X77?  It is currently black with black seatbelts and a green interior.  Also, is the dash housing any other color besides black?

Originality / More X77 stuff
« on: January 26, 2006, 02:56:40 PM »
I need to know if the following belong on an X77 car.  Chrome louvers, rocker panel moulding, drip rail moulding, wheel well moulding.  It looks obvious that somone put this stuff on later.
Also, I know there is no chrome around the head light, but not sure what the tail light should look like.  Does it have the chrome verticle bars?
