General Discussion / Big block radiator core support?
« on: April 05, 2008, 07:18:02 PM »
I was just reading the L78 nova article in Muscle Car Review mag. Is the first gen.  Camaro BBC Radiator core support for a Camaro different from a SBC one? If different, are the differences similiar to the Novas differences?

Thanks, Rick

I'm in Arizona. The block is not for sale. If someone had the original car, I'm sure we could work something out. It's looking like it will go into my '68 SS L-78 car, complete with the as GM stamped vin # on it.
Rick

where are you located, and how much are you looking to get for it?

I believe the cast date is 3-1-8 , and deck date of 3-29. I'll work on getting a pic. to you in e-mail. Kinda busy lately.
Thanks, Rick

I don't have it either, but I DO have 124678L337210, with is an L78 Convertible!

Rick, what's the date on the block? Also, can you email me a few pictures of the engine pad for the database? My email address is bertfam@verizon.net

Thanks
Ed

I sure would like to find this car! The block is looking like a good prospect for my car. Right dates, although I'd never deck this block.

Ok.....say you have a '68 that you believe was originally an L-78 car. Doesn't really matter..........driveline is gone, know it's a 396 car as per original paint in trunk jambs, tailpanel. Trying to decide on what to do for an engine? Have these on hand : '68 L-89 block with a Camaro vin. #,(would love to find this car) correct date for my car, would never deck this block. Also have '69 Vette 427 block (2 bolt main) 400 hp. tri-power vette vin., or a '70 L-78 Camaro 402 block. ? Which would you use, and why?? I would love to find my original block.............but chances are about as good as winning the Powerball !!

Thanks for any advice!!!

Decoding/Numbers / '68 Z/28 trans. crossmember markings?
« on: May 28, 2007, 08:02:51 PM »
Anyone know what wax/crayon markings might have been on the bottom side of the transmission crossmember? My Z is long gone, but I still have the crossmember. I was just looking at it, and noticed markings. I had stripped all the paint off of it years ago, and never noticed the markings.

Thanks for any input.

It would be funny if they made similar spelling mistakes on their bogus paperwork!

General Discussion / Good deal on an L78 short block
« on: May 14, 2006, 09:45:23 PM »
Not mine........wish it was. Someone needs to find this body and put together a rare car. I think the price is VERY fair for what it is. I had to go and check my VIN to make sure it was not my missing block. LOL
