General Discussion / Re: 1967 camaro 4K convertibles

I couldn’t find my notes on the car mentioned above, but I suspect it is the same blue one in this thread.  I did find info on another that I did not see personally.  Utah car, 04D build, c-1, w 2lg 4K 5Y-LA181A.  Car was in a mud slide, restored in 2001, guy’s name was Hal. No Vin noted.

A guy contacted me about one 10-15 years ago that was a wrecked shell that he was putting together with another body if I recall correctly.  He was very forthcoming, but I chose to pass.  I'll check my notes tonight and post whatever I have on it.

Feb 30th is actually pretty funny!

I spoke to Laurie in 2000 and we tried to find the car.  Searched BC and AB VIN records, but it wasn’t in either database.

It’s interesting that Craig’s BP has white pin stripes instead of the gold ones found on other BP’s.  For those interested in these cars, Bob’s car above does not have correct/original BP emblems nor the correct/original 007 panel.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: trim tag is it OK 67 L78

My old documented 4P L78 was built later than this car...04B, NOR 107984, VIN 7N207927, T0405MQ...

Sorry Paul,  He must have taken down the ad when he received messages about the tag.  It is one of the older style repop tags, so it is very easy to spot...and the 12c build date doesn't help matters any.

Hi Alabeagle,

I'm sorry that you did not know that your trim tag was a fake, but unfortunately that is happening far too often now.  Everything that you have read on this and the other sites is correct regarding the late March intro of the L78 and I'm sure that some of the CRG guys can point you to definitive sources.  I'm one of the guys who contacted you via ebay and I can guarantee you, as others will that saw your tag, that it is a fake - regardless of the date shown on it.  It simply is not correct.  Again, I am very sorry that you had to find this out after buying the car.  Mark

To the best of my knowledge Mike.  I'll ship the pump with the clutch fan in another 2 weeks or so when I get up to my brother-in-law's place to get it.  Sure you don't want that nicely dated 266?  ;D

Mike,  smog pumps did not get the relief valve on top until '68.  The one that I have here for you is the correct casting.

The "8" in the FW is likely for 1978, not 1968.

Ron, the cowl plenum breather came in a box in the trunk of the car and did not have a 302 emblem on it.  BTW, your motor looks great!  Mark
