Decoding/Numbers / DZ Block Vin

I have a 69 DZ block and the area where the vin should be ( at the oil filter ) is very rough. Can't see any numbers. I was wondering what would be the best way to make the numbers readable without taking a chance on destroying them. Thanks

Thanks for the info. Can you tell me how you came up with it? Like what each digit stands for. All the codes I have seen have three numbers and no letters. Thanks again.

I have a dz carb with what looks like a 8 B 1. The first number is really plain. The second sure looks like it has a straight line at the front which makes it look like a B. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
