Here are some shots of my '69 L-48 orig. motor. Not a survivor, but I've been working on getting back all stock.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: 40725 AC fuel pump

This page from the 1972 Chevy P & A book shows either part # 6470422  type 40725   or part # 6470423 type 40726
I'm not sure exactly how to read it.
Anyone know if it will fit and work  ?
Thanks Again

Does anyone know if this fuel pump is correct for my 11D 1968 build  350/300 with A/T ?
also is the "48K" part of the stamp on it the date code ?  would it be Sept. 1968 ? (Delco skipped the "I" correct ? )

Thanks,
Billy

Originality / Re: Engine Dressup Kit
« on: October 31, 2007, 09:01:27 PM »
Kurt,
Thanks, thats kinda what I thought. I had heard stories about an "engine dressup kit" but could not document it or find an RPO for it. I have a chrome air cleaner cover like the one in the book that came off of a Sept. '68 build LM-1 car a freind of mine is building for his son. It is pretty beat up and looks like it might of been orig. to the car. Anyway can this be correct ? Also would it be correct to use on my Oct. '68 build 350/300 Rs/Ss ?
Thanks Again,
Billy

Originality / Engine Dressup Kit
« on: October 30, 2007, 08:49:48 PM »
I was looking through this book - The Great Camaro, by Michael Lamm , published in 1978. It shows this engine picture with the caption "Engine dressup kit shown above on 300bhp L-48 350 was also available for all V-8's in 1969 "  It shows a chrome air cleaner cover and finned valve covers. Does anyone know if the valve covers are chrome, or the Z-28 duller ones ? Also was there an RPO # for this ?

Thanks

Thanks Jeff,
Could the one I have be an orig. "Chrome " cap like on the finned Z-28 valve covers ?

Originality / Orig. oil filler cap ?
« on: October 14, 2007, 03:01:59 PM »
I have a '69 SS - 350/300 and I'm working on putting the engine compartment back to as original as I can. I put the plain orange valve covers on it and I have a repop "S" rivitt oil filler cap on it. I found this cap and it has the "S" like the repop, but also has a "SM" or "WS" logo on it. Would this one be an original ?
If it is I'm going to paint it orange and use it.
Also I know the valve cover bolts need to painted orange (they are bare metal now), do I need to also paint the little silver tabs under the valve cover bolts orange also ?
Thanks for any help.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: YA Wheels
« on: September 14, 2007, 01:40:32 PM »
Thanks for the info.I haven't been looking too long, but so far I have only found 1 YA wheel dated in '68 , and that one was too late. I might have to settle for later dates.
Thanks

John,
Here is a link to a Team Camaro thread on the cut-away cars with some photos.

If this vendor has one, and it's not the one that Rick's had from Austrailia, it seems to be a new find.

Decoding/Numbers / YA Wheels
« on: September 04, 2007, 07:07:41 PM »
I am looking for a set of  YA or "SS" wheels for my 11D build 1969 RS/SS
I have spoke to the 3rd owner of my car who owned it in the early '70's and he says it had SS wheels on it when he had it.
2 questions, could my car have been delivered with SS wheels , and I have found one wheel with an  8  11  28 date code, would that code be too late for my car ?
Thanks for any help.

I'll let you know, I'm going to drop mine off on Mon. or Tue.
Mine is an orig. chrome one so I don't know if there is a difference between re-plating, or doing a black one.

FYI - I just got a quote from a local plating shop here in Baltimore for $60.00 to do my air cleaner top.
I'll let you know what it looks like, I'm going to bring it in next week.
