Looks like some or most of the interior parts are original. I like that they did not put a repop steering wheel or shroud on it by looking at the pictures .

General Discussion / Re: Question about rear of car being to low
« on: July 30, 2023, 01:46:51 AM »
I like the look myself. Since the car has a 427 (maybe headers, aluminum intake, etc.) using the correct front springs for what car? The rear being not level would however bother me. If the resto is all new I would look for something binding in the rear springs or even a shock. Very sharp car.

I am not where I can access a picture of the missing digit on my cowl stampimg. It is a 46 year repaint car done in laquer paint and you can see the number just was never there. The other numbers show a slight indention but where last number should be it is nothing there. Maybe the stamp malfunctioned. It was pointed out before I bought the car. The cars previous owners are known and I have spoken with all of them back to 1977 including the guy who had the last paint done in 1977.

When I brought my Nor 69 SS to NC with a PA title they were requiring 3 vin locations with photo documentation. They accepted the title as one, the windshield as the second, and with a CE block the cowl would be three. My cowl number has one digit missing, just not there. I knew the trans had one and they had a lift so up it went. The exhaust was in front of the trans vin but you could read it. They said they had to get 3 vin photos to go with the NC title application and their camera or mine would not focus as close as the exhaust pipe to vin stamping. So they told me to leave and come back with either the exhaust pipe removed or the front fender (they knew where the hidden vin was). I might add that the DMV that does this in NC is 35 miles from me. Since I just got the car I really was not into taking things apart. I did get a NC title later but I really should not say how on the internet.

General Discussion / Re: HP - 396cu = 325,350,375 what changes?
« on: July 21, 2023, 11:32:21 AM »
I have both a rectangle port L78 camaro and an oval port 396 as well. The valve size is more important than the port shape. If you put the large valves in an oval port it might pass a rectangle port on the street but not in stock condition. No bench racing here, real life experience. The L78 cam does need at least 355 or 373 gears to get going just like the Z28.

Restoration / Re: 1969 FRONT SHEETMETAL TOO FAR FORWARD

I think you car has taken a hit in the front and one or more parts are bent . Someone might have Tryed to straighten pieces and not got them right. If the radiator support is bent in or out it could throw several pieces out of line.

General Discussion / Re: Black LOS Z28/RS JL8 car..crossram car
« on: July 14, 2023, 12:49:16 PM »
Rick Hendrix had a black 69 RS years ago. I saw it at a small show at one of his dealers, It was actually 2 but the other one I don,t think was a RS, not sure about JL8 on either. Both had crossrams on them. Said that he got them from GM. This was around the time GM was going broke.

I temporarily attached a water bottle to the over flow hose to check to see if I was loosing water going down the road. My GTO had so much air trapped I use water wetter in it to get it to cool down. I also use the infared to check all my factory guage cars. The Harbor Freight 20 buck unit works fine.

General Discussion / Re: How did you all get more power out your 327
« on: June 14, 2023, 12:13:13 PM »
I agree that the heads are the holdback now. With what you have done so far I think I would go with the 2.02 valve heads. They would look original and are not that hard to find. Get someone to do a good valve job before installing and you should feel the difference.

If it had white interior I would have to have it. I have seen so many red or black cars I really enjoy something different.

He is right, you can see the groove the retainer locks on. Does the winner get a prize?
