I agree with you.  Butternut Yellow with a black top is one of my favorite combinations.  Put the top back on.

I can't wait to see your car and Ben's car paired off.  That would be a joy to watch.

The picture I posted above shows 2 283 cranks with the notch cut out of them and a 302 crank in between them.  One of the 283 cranks I removed from the 283 myself  and the other 283 crank was one my dad had laying around.  All 3 of these cranks are 822 castings.

The only difference in the 822 cranks used in the 302 is the tuffriding.  The 822 cranks that were in 283's had the notch in them as well.  The one in the middle is the 302 crank.

The 302 cranks were tuffrided, the 283 cranks were not.  Either way they do not comand big money like the large journal 302 cranks.  Plus, once the crank is turned you lose the tuffriding anyway.

Before the orphan section was created here I sent a picture of the stamp pad of a 68 396 block I had to Kurt and ended up reuniting it with the car.  I cant say enough about the work these guys do here.

Off of the top of my head the side cover is the earlier style and the vin is questionable, after the N it should start with a 5 or a 6 for a camaro vin number.

My rs car doesn't have a carpet guard either but I just assumed the original owner took it out for some reason.  When I get back to the states and can check it out farther I will look at it more closely.  I have purchased one to put in it but I may have to look more closely.

What is the stamp on the front pad on the engine block from the motor in his warehouse?

Look for the stamped vins under the cowl and behind the heater box.  It sounds to me like it is a firebird as for the body number starting with a 2.

Yes being that it is a pre X code car it would have to be an SS to be a BB.

That could be a little misleading, if it were a post X code car it would have to be an SS to be a BB as well.

I sent an email with some pictures of my car.

How about a picture of the stamp pad.  The vin number should be stamped down by the oil filter.
