First time on the forum but probably won't be my last. Just recently bought back my son's 68 Camaro that he sold when he went into the Army in 88. It has front end damage from a little too much girl watching but was still drivable. Just a standard small block coupe with auto trans and no real options to speak of. Interior is really nice except for a small crack in the dash. Car was Corvette bronze from the factory but was repainted red with white z stripes. Over the last thirty years the car was stored inside and not driven.... Did have the 327 rebuilt but other than that the guy did not touch it. Fair amount of surface rust but better than I expected when I got it. Car is numbers right so that should help it some. My plan is to give it a mild restoration and just drive it for a few years. I know that after market sheet metal is out there but I know a local guy that has a complete unbolted front clip off a first gen Camaro.... But it is a 67. He has had this front end sitting in a shop for thirty years because he had it when my kid first wrecked his car. I have no idea what that front end is worth and so far I have not got a price from him. Keep in mind that we are not talking about a rs or ss or anything special but what do you think would be a fair price for this front end? And would you put a 67 front on a 68? Would also like to take a little survey here and find out from some other owners what would you do with the paint? Go back to original or paint it whatever color I want. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thank you all in advance.
