Title: Opinion needed-engine/tranny first or front end?
Post by: Springer Tom on September 03, 2012, 01:33:37 AM
Had to remove the right front fender and skirt, bumper, grille, valance, etc to install A/C box....seems to me it would be easy to remove radiator support, put engine and tranny together on the floor and slide them right in, then put the sheetmetal back on.....chime right in please

That's what I would do if I already had it that close to being apart.   Go for it !!

If I still had the left fender and header panel/valance panel intact, I'd put the front end back together while that much is still aligned. If you take the entire front clip off--including the radiator support--unless you're a good body man you're going to have a hell of a headache getting everything back the way it was. As for me, I'd much rather slide an engine/transmission in through the sheetmetal than fight shims and dents and unaligned fenders and the like. But then, I hate bodywork. Good luck!
