I have a 68 327 Cordovan Maroon and have a question regarding the correct color for the dash. The interior is standard black. I have noticed some photos on the web of dashes that have been painted to the cars exterior color. Was this original in some cars, or simply restorer's choice. I have no connection to this ebay listing, but it does show a Cordovan Maroon with a Maroon dash.
ebay id: 330008984411 (see 15th picture for best view)
I appreciate any comments!

I would expect the dash color to be keyed to the interior color, but I'll gladly stand corrected on that.
What's with the windscreen wipers on that car?? Looks to be the wrong arms and they can't flush down to the bottom of the screen??
Here's an easier link to the car http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet-Camaro-1968-Camaro-SS-396-4-Speed-Frame-Off-Resto_W0QQitemZ330008984411QQihZ014QQcategoryZ6161QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

There were actually several interior color possibilities in 68. They were related to exterior color, but not necesarily the same, and you could customize some. (I'm a long way from my research info. right now or I would tell you what they are.)
These are web pages with the 68 promos:

But...
If your car is a Norwood car look at the interior number on your cowl tag. I'm betting it says 712, which is black standard interior.
Look at this on CRG to verify: http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml#InteriorColors

On a black interior car (standard 712, 713 or Deluxe 714 or 715) everything on the interior is black except for the chrome astro vent bezels and balls, and the clear handles on window cranks. Exterior color played no part in the colors of interior components.

Everyone - thanks for the fast responses!
I decided black was the way to go.
Mark- one more question - semi-gloss or gloss black?
-
Top of dash is 0 gloss black Ditzler code DIA-9317, front of the dash was semi gloss black Ditzler code DIA-9266. The top of the dash usually has a suede additive in it that gave it kind of a slightly textured look. The vast majority of the painted interior parts were painted with the semi gloss paint. Things like rear window defogger grilles, speaker grilles, console compartment door, and the corner escuthion (trim pieces) on the rear window were about the only other flat black items.

You say 'usually'? meaning there was some variation to this?

Here is a pic of the differences of the suede vs the lower or front of dash black.
