Title: Rear Body Harness Replacement Procedure on a 69 Coupe
Post by: Mac B on July 15, 2012, 06:32:35 PM
I have determined that I need to replace my rear body harness.  This harness is routed between the dash and the trunk with a plug on the driver's side of the trunk for the tail light/turn signal/marker light harness.  What is the best way to replace the rear body harness on a done car? What do I need to remove to get at the harness?  It looks like the kick panel for sure.  Of course I will check the plug there before I proceed any further.   All wires at the headlight switch plug are working correctly and my tail light section operates as it should when I apply independent power.  Thanks for your help.

Remove kick panel, door scuff plate, rear seat and you may need to remove the and inner 1/4 trim for access to the old loom..

Best to reveal both ends and check continuity with a multimeter before removal.. Could also just be a bad connection.

Thanks Steve, that is what I thought.  Gonna dig into it tomorrow.  I do know there is no juice at the trunk end. Am I correct in thinking the dash end is behind the kick panel?

The connector isn't but the 1/4 loom is routed behind it..

Edit: Just saw you found and fixed the problem.. :)

The dashboard end of the body harness was partially separated.  Who knows how it happened but I reconnected it and all is well. Getting the kick panel out is a BEAR!  Of course I scratched it and will be getting a new one.
