Does anyone know where I can go to get my 1969 Delco Radio repaired.

Is it an AM radio - 91APB1 ?
Do you have any soldering experience and want to see if you can fix it yourself?
Mine hadn't worked for 37 years. I replaced the dried out electrolytic capacitors and it fired right up. Sam's photofacts has the schematic.

Thanks so much DavidS, my radio came out of my 1969 Camaro, by chance do you know what the part number is for a 1969 Delco Radio ? Before I send my radio to get repaired I want to make sure it's the right one for my car. Thanks

Is it an AM radio - 91APB1 ?
Standardized Delco radio code as of late 1968:
91APB1 is a 1969 Delco push button AM radio.
9=1969
1= Chevrolet
A= Midsize, includes Camaro
PB= Push Button AM
1= revision #
Other radio codes:
FP - AM/FM Mono
FM - AM/FM Stereo

If you check websites like the Corvette Forum and Team Camaro you will probably find Jerry. Just a first class guy and like us, a car guy additionally. The germanium transistor ds-503 tests okay in the b&k transistor tester but leakage appears dangerously present. So I ebay'd sylvania ecg121 replcmnt, hasn't arrived yet. Anyone recognize ds-503 leakage as an inherent design flaw thus requiring periodic replcmnt? It runs full throttle called class A regardless of music demand

Is there suppose to be measureable dc one volt onto 8ohm spkr using ecg121 as direct subst for factory transistor called ds-503. ?

I would like to know of a reliable Delco expert. Jerry is retired except for some Corvette radios. There is Joe in CA but I'm A bit uneasy about him. Don't want cheap import parts in my original piece.
Anyone?

I used Robert Pacini at Precision Radio Repair in New York. Was pleased with the appearance of the work, I sent him my speaker as well. I wanted my radio repaired as original. I have not started the car yet so I cannot comment on the working condition of the repair

Contacted Robert and he is backed up for 3 months. Will have to wait til winter.

And that is the way it is with Robert. He is always backed up, well worth the wait. Here is a conversation I had with him. BTW, the radio he refurbed for me is still cranking out the sound. And gives you an idea of his costs.

Yes, I'm still repairing Delco AM Radios.
I can repair and overhaul any radio from 1946 to 1990 for only $100-150.
(1946-57 are $150, 1958-90 are $100)
It includes parts.
All the worn or defective capacitors, tubes, transistors, etc.
Full radio alignment for the best reception.
Clean the dial area & re-paint the dial pointer.
Clean & lube all the controls & tuning mechanism
Also, if you wish, I can Modify your radio for better bass & treble, to sound like a modern radio for only $50 extra. I don't gut out or remove any components. I just connect a few of the original circuits in a more modern fashion for better bass & treble & power. All of your original circuts will still be used. You won't believe how good your radio can sound. The $50 Mod. DRAMATICALLY improves bass and treble response which makes your original radio have the full tone of a modern radio.
Use with your original type 8 or 10 ohm speakers, or better yet any of my new 8 ohm 4x10 or 6x9 Hi-Fi speakers. Let me know what size.
Also, if you wish, I can install an aux input cable for an ipod/mp3/cell ph/portable-cd for $50 extra. It's a cable that comes out of the back or side of your radio. I can make the cable any length from 2 ft. to 5 ft. It has a female jack on the end of it. I also supply a 2ft male to male cord to connect it to the ipod/mp3. It's connected directly to the volume control of your radio for the best sound. (not like others that plug into the antenna jack which then goes through the radio tuner)
The total repairs would be $100,($150 for 1946-57) plus $50 for each the mods, plus shipping. Credit card or PayPal when I finish are best.
If you decide to ship it, the Post Office is much more gentle than all the other carriers.
Insure it for at least $300 & wrap it well to Protect The Shafts, They break, bend or get pushed in easily. I use balled up sheets of newspaper to pack them tight. You could also put cut off heavy tubing over each whole shaft like PVC or large heater hose longer than the shafts to protect Them. Please dont use styrofoam. Leave a note with your email or phone# & I'll notify you when I receive it.

Thanks for posting that info, John. I'm at a point were my radio does work but I wanted just a little better dynamic range but still keep the original unit. Replacing the front speaker with a newer one with better sound capabilities is about the only mod I would do outside of radio improvements.
I like the external jack idea and circuit mod for better sound so I may use this info you provided.
