Title: Paint choice for subframe and a-arms ?
Post by: DAVEN1256 on June 28, 2012, 01:05:26 PM
I am looking for a 2K paint for my subframe and a-arms. I definitely want a 2K for durability.

I just recenty saw a frame painted in SEM Hot Rod Black and it was a little too flat for me and almost looked like a very, very dark gray rather than deep black. I don't want gloss but something that looks jet black with a little more sheen than what I saw on the Hot Rod Black. The best way I can describe the gloss level I want is something with a nice "glow" to it if that makes any sense.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.........Thanks, Dave

I used a product called Zero Rust. Comes in black and other colors. It's labeled a "primer", but serves as a "paint" coat -- no additional top coat required. I think it has the correct "sheen" you are looking for. I used it on my undercarriage -- subframe, A-arms, etc. Comes in spray aerosol can and brush on quarts. Zero Rust also has an aerosol clear coat which adds a level of gloss.  I purchase Zero Rust from Auto Body Store. This site also provides a wealth of tried and proven information/forum that speaks to anything from rust repair, sheet metal work, to priming and painting -- with a host of products for any job.  Give it a look:
