Title: power steering clamp
Post by: sebastien on May 31, 2012, 02:58:10 PM
Where is the correct location for the clamp that holds on one of the power steering hoses ? (which bolt of the steering box cover) and which hose (return)? I think p/n is 9420534

1968 small block.

thank you

If you mean THIS ONE (http://www.rickscamaros.com/camaro-power-steering-hose-to-steering-gearbox-retaining-bracket-1967-1977.html), it bolts to the front passenger side cover bolt and holds the pressure hose.

Was this clamp on all 67-69 cars with P/S? Small block and big block?

Yes, 67-69, but only on V8 engines. L6's didn't use it.

By the way, that P/N (9420534) isn't the clamp I linked to. 9420534 (http://www.parts123.com/0000358f/9420534/CLASSIC-MUSCLE/CHEVROLET/MULTI%20APPLICATIONS/-chevrolet_clamp-9420534.htm) is the clamp to attach the rubber return hose to the metal tubes that are screwed into the steering gear and the pump. The clamp I linked above has no part number because it was part of the steering gear assembly.
