Just wondered if the plug gap should be wider when running the pertronix or left at standard. Thx.

If you are running a higher output coil then the gap would be larger. For example the plug gap for my stock 396/350 hp stock coil and dist. is 0.35 but for the later model HEI' with higher output they were 0.45 gap. The higher energy you have going to the plug to arc across the larger gap then the more spark you will have exposed to the compressed A/F mix. I am not familiar with that particular brand and what the plug gaps should be set at exact though.

I am running .040" with no issues using the MSD blaster coil (painted satin black of course). I have heard you can run .045 with these hotter coils but chose to be conservative.

The Pertronix conversion module simply replaces an electromechanical switch (the points) with an electronic switch; it has no effect on spark energy. Plug gap remains stock (.035").

Well, I did the right thing without knowing. I put it together before I got the reply and put them at .035. I got lucky this time. Thanks.
