Title: 69 cortez silver Z/28
Post by: keech on April 20, 2012, 11:33:02 PM
Hey guys.
I bought a 2 owner 69 Z/28 a couple months ago from a guy in long island NY.  He purchaced the car as a theft recovery with 3,000-4,000 miles on it.
it was stolen in mid to late 1971and was sold new at village chevrolet in queens.  He said they got the intake, carb, ignition, trans and front seats.   Maybe someone here knows the car??     Base Z/28 cortez silver.
Factory cowl hood, std black interior, no console, tach only.  am/fm and spoilers.       thanks !   Steve

I live on Long Island and a friend of mine purchased a theft recovery in 1971 and still owns and races the caras he did from day 1. I believe it is also from Village Chev, and its a Fathom Green, black comfort weave, cowl hood, am/fm stereo,X33, console and gauges.

I currently own a 1969 Z28 that was also a theft recovery car.The Z28 was recovered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin by the police and then sold at auction to a guy who owned a car lot in Janesville Wisconsin. Still trying to find info on my car. If that sparks the memory of anyone please let me know. The car is Orange with White stripes

Hi Mike, I live near by in Baiting Hollow. I helped organize a benefit car show for the Wounded Warrior Project on Sat 5/26 Memorial weekend.  When my schedule permits I attend several local cruise nights, Tues Yaphank Fire Dept, Thurs Riverhead/riverfront, and Meschutt Beach Friday.

The paintball team I am on along with another team did a couple of years of fund raisers for Wounded Warrior at the Coram field.
My car club did mention the show out east. If weather permits, I'll go there as a spectator (my car is being prepped for repaint).
The Yaphank fire dept is only 10 minutes from my house. If you don't mind my email is msinis@optonline.net so if are going I'd look forward to meeting members here.

Sorry this thread got hijacked!  :o

steve, i have been looking for one for my 67 rs/ss for a long time. cant find one! i bought the car from the original owner in 1984. while talking to him after i restored the car in 2008, i asked him about the original one from the car. he told me that he told the salesman "if you put that free advertising on my car, you can keep it!" where r you on long island?

great...   I guess the next village emblem on ebay will go to a million bucks.    Us outbidding each other !  Ha Ha !
