Title: Strange Radiator Tag
Post by: IZRSSS on April 17, 2012, 11:13:03 AM: I found this tag on the lower left side of my radiator. It doesn't look like any of the tags in this report plus it's in the wrong location. http://www.camaros.org/coolingsystems.shtml#tag.

Can someone tell me what type of radiator this is? Is it a correct replacement or just your run-of-the-mill repop?

Sorry it's a bad pic but its the best I could do given its location. If I read it correctly it's; 19, 0260537, made in USA (and maybe something else up top across from the #19).

Not that it matters but I read in your report that the tag was soldered in place prior to the radiator being painted. Same thing for this one (even though it's about a mile away from the other tags location). No paint on the back but gloss black up front. I just thought that was kinda cool.

Oh, and thanks for flipping the tag. Gotta figure out how you do that. ;)

I use Irfanview - free and does a quality job of resizing things with minimal distortion (I've had problems with other programs).
I rotated it and then horizontal flipped it. Then I cropped and resized it to make it larger. Pretty easy once you've done it a few hundred times.....

I will also look into Irfanview - very impressive! And free, you don't hear that very often. Appreciate the tip!

Post by: IZRSSS on April 18, 2012, 12:39:33 PM: I looked just about everywhere for a manufacturer's stamp short of removing it from the rad support & haven't found anything yet. I did manage to get a better look at the impression to the left of the #19 on the tag. It looks like side by side chevron's (for a lack of better terms). Does this help at all?

1990: The firm purchases Sundstrand Corporation.
1993: Germany-based Langerer & Reich is acquired.
2001: Thermacore International Inc. is added to the company's arsenal.

Post by: JKZ27 on April 23, 2012, 02:28:07 PM: Yeah, it looks like they got out of the automotive market maybe 8-10 years ago. I bought a Modine for my 79 Z28 about 13 years ago. It was a nice all brass soldered radiator. I guess its too hard to compete with all the plastic tank junk from China.

Ha! 5 minutes after this post I noticed a Modine radiator and oil cooler in the 05 BMW I'm currently working on. :)

Actually I'm okay with that if it is because evidently they knew what they were doing when it came to high performance radiators. In addition to tractor's, large trucks, etc., they supplied Ford with the cooling system for the 428 Cobra Jet. Here is what it looks like;

My radiator also appears to be like the one you mentioned; all brass soldered.
