Title: '68 Molded Door Panel Pull Strap mounting/reinforcement plate?
Post by: rod396 on April 16, 2012, 06:31:29 AM
i am converting my 68 interior to deluxe, the molded door panels.
Is there a reinforcement/mounting plate for the strap mounting screws that bolts to the door shell? I have seen other GM cars with similar straps, and they do have a a plate which attaches to the door with sheetmetal screws which is of thicker metal than the door.
Anybody seen these original on a Camaro? Photo?
Thanks,
Rod.

Mine have the metal plate - the after market versions do not and will not mount right based on my experience.  There's a screw that holds the chromish bezel to the grip that screws into that plate. Without that plate the handle won't hold the bezel in place well.

Actually, I was referring to the door itself, not the trim panel.
Thanks,
Rod.

If memory sevres me correctly, the screw goes through the door shell with no reinforcement...Joe
