My Red 67 is finally in paint. Was scheduled for paint 3 weeks ago, then that shop got busy with accident repairs, so had to find another. I have this week off, "gnawing at the bit" to start getting it back together. Supposed to be done tomorrow. The suspense has been killing me!

Looks good. reassembley should be a fun time.
-
Thanks! Yep, looking forward to it, and to getting it on the road.

This part of the rebuild is in my opinion, the most exciting. After all the hard work and to finally see color sprayed on. The worst part is your first chip. Hopefully it's while driving as opposed to mine, that always seem to occur during the re-assembly process. For the life of me I have absolutely no idea how the factory builds a car after it's been painted without chipping and scratching the heck out of it.
Great looking car. I'm sure you'll have a blast with it.

Very carefully and with special tools. ;D

Also I might add very slow. It took us a month just to put my interior in. Of course that is dealing with aftermarket parts that don't fit so you put it on, take it off, work on it, put it back on etc, etc. etc.... then when you can't get it to fit you hunt for original used parts

Here' couple more pics. out in the sun. It was sure drawing attention. Loading it up to go home.

This is my favorite so far, note the Weckerly's D-X sign in the background. That is from my Grandfathers service station where my brothers and I each took turns working when we were in High School.

Care and patience. You can R&R a nose without damage if you're careful; some people aren't. Those who paint a car in pieces as opposed to assembled know all about it. Make sure you get all the buffing crud off before too long. Although the waterbased polishes are not as bad as the solvent based.

Mike the car is looking good, keep the progress pics coming.
-
I'm at my brothers reassembling the car this weekend. Got my engine back today(original to the car), and cleaned up and painted. I posted a pic. on facebook if interested. But I haven't figured out how to downsize pictures on this computer. Making a lot of progress.

Mike - Your car is looking great! And that garage is over the top!!! Happy Easter buddy!

Got the Windshield and Back Window installed today. Had to wait half the day for the guy to show up. And got the Gas Tank installed.
-
Just an update. I won't be posting any pics. from this weekend, as I forgot and left my camera at my brothers. Trunk is basically done. Gas Tank is done. New Fuel line is done. All new Brake Hardlines are done. The Roofrail Channels are back in place, and the Roofrail Weatherstrips are installed. And per previous post Windshield and Rear Window are back in. Had a good weekend and got a lot done, my brother Russ and I work good together.
-
Thanks everyone for kind comments. It sure gets lotsa lOOks when the garage door is open. OK, Windshield and Back Window are in, Roof Rail and Weatherstrip are in,(all weatherstrips are in place now) Trunk is done, Brake and Fuel lines are run. And latest pic. Bumpers are now in place. Hoping to get Engine and Tranny in this weekend.
-
Very Nice. I like it. Looking forward to seeing the motor installed.
-
Engine is back at home after 20 some years. And the Drive-line is all hooked up.
-
Here's a couple new pics. from this weekend. The Radiator, Shroud, and Hoses are in place. Also the Trans. cooler lines. Note Z28 specific Breather tube in first pic.. I resurrected it, got it cheap it was "banged up" a little and the Plug Wire stand was cut off. You probably won't see that often Z28 Breather tube and Auto Trans. dipstick together.LOL! This is actually the original 327 engine "dressed up" to look like a 302. The Distributor, Spark Plugs, and Plug Wires are done. I used MSD 8 mm Street Fire wires, look a lot like original, Black wires and Black boots. Alternator (original to the car, completely rebuilt)is in place.
-
Heres the latest pics. of the car. I got the Mag wheels on today, and new Tires on Rear. And a shot of my new PYPES Exhaust system, not factory re-pop, but close. Trying to stay close on originality.
-
Got the exhaust all up in place under the car, but had to order correct Hangers for in front of the axle. The 2 they sent with the kit were generic, and probably could have been made to work, but I want it to look right. Thanks to those that are following.
-
I'd be interested to hear what that exhaust sounds like. What size are those pipes?

2 1/2 in.,all mandrel bent. Haven't fired the Engine yet, but wife wants me to video it when I do. Should be able to fire it next weekend, if /when I do I'll try to send you a link.
-
Got the Power Brake Booster, Master Cylinder, etc. all in place this afternoon. All lines are hooked up, naturally the last line gave me fits. I did get some other stuff done mostly details. Tail-lights are in. Did not get it "fired" yet.
-
OK, haven't been on here for few days because crunch time getting the car together and running. Which it is, few minor issues as usual. Have had it out and driving it, and got the front end aligned yesterday. Lots of "gawkers" and nice comments. Got over 200 miles on it now, and heading for 2 days of HOT ROD POWER Tour. The 2 days here in Illinois. 68Zproject>>>>, it is pretty loud, a little louder than I would really like. But I guess I can live with it.
-
There's no such thing as too loud. My neighbor isn't a car guy and always "comments" (complains) about my noisy car. I always say "that's nothing, wait til I get the mufflers off".

Here is a link to PYPES sound clips site; http://www.pypesexhaust.com/sounds-gm-fbody.html
go there and check out the 2.5 in. Crossflow section, I sent you a video of mine by personal e-mail, but I think these are better. I am getting lots of positive comments on the sound. Hope this helps you decide.
