I took my original front shocks off my 69 Z last night, they are worn out. What is a good aftermarket brand to use on the front of the car?
Thanks,
Lawrence

I used regular Delco gas-charged replacements when I took the flabby old original shocks off my '69 ten years ago, and they work fine; they're actually made by Monroe or Gabriel - Delco hasn't manufactured shocks for 20 years.

Like John says, any decent replacement will run better than the originals. I know guys who have spent more money and are using KYB, Edlebrock, Bilstein or Koni shocks. Each one says their brand does fine.

I have a set of Monroe gas shocks that are lightly used, but are 7 years old they seem to be a little soft. How much pressure should I have to exert to get them to collapse? They slowly extend to full length after 20 seconds or so.
Thanks

For Lawrence and others, are there any alternatives for having ones orig. shocks re-built? I've heard this mentioned but have never read where or who!

There is a guy over at NCRS that does it. I will post his contact info once I get his contact info out of the Driveline. It is expensive though. JohnZ may beat me to the driveline.

That's Dan Patch in Kansas - dpatch2@kc.rr.com, (913) 268-5314.

Man what a difference the Gabriel Ultas made. Much better cornering.
