Title: Seat adjuster knob
Post by: 68Zproject on March 19, 2012, 06:01:22 AM
Were the original seat adjuster knobs chromed metal with a set screw or chromed plastic push on?

I haven't touched those in awhile, but if memory serves me correctly, the originals are chromed pot metail with a set screw...
(though.. I might be confusing the Camaro with my mid-fifties classics..  I'll look tonight and followup for certain, as my '69 Camaro definitely has the original adjuster knobs.)

'67 Firebird seats (came in my car) had press on knobs.  The tilt latches have screws.

That's the way my seats are now.  I see the re-pops are metal with a set-screw so you guys with the originals would really help me decide if I should replace mine.

I miss understood my tilt forward knob for back seat entry is chrome plated metal with set screw, my knob for front leg ajustment is push on chrome plated hard plastic (magnet dose not stick) this is a factory original unrestored 67.

OK...  I replied (incorrectly) earlier, saying taht I thought the seat adjuster knob was chromed pot metail.   I looked tonight, and the original '69 Camaro seat adjuster is chromed plastic (push on).   I was apparently thinking of my mid-fifties chevy's which have chromed pot metal adjuster knobs...

Thanks guys, I think I'll leave the originals on.
